WARWAR WARD APC EXECUTIVES REAFFIRMS SUSPENSION OF FORMER TARABA SPEAKER

By Mohammed Tikka

The APC executives in Warwar Ward of Sardauna Local Government Area of Taraba state have reaffirmed the suspension of Rt. Hon. Abel Peter Diah, the member representing Mbamga state constituency at the Taraba State House of Assembly, due to alleged persistent acts of insubordination and misconduct.

Rt Hon Abel Diah

While addressing journalists in Jalingo, ward secretary Mbah Sule Ibrahim disclosed that the decision followed “several verified reports and complaints” which indicated that the lawmaker’s conduct had breached party discipline and undermined recognised structures at the ward level.

He stated that the suspension letter, dated 21 November, 2025 had already been formally served to all concerned, pending further directives from higher party authorities.

In a statement, APC ward executives who gathered in Jalingo, the state capital, accused Hon. Diah of, among other offenses, displaying gross insubordination to the recognized party structure and leadership at the ward level when he defected from the PDP to the APC in 2023, and instead formed unknown executives who are not even registered APC members.

They expressed displeasure over his conduct of assuming himself as the APC leader in Sardauna Local Government Area, disregarding the established party structures already in place.

They are alleging that he made a public boast that he would dissolve and reconstitute all APC structures in Sardauna should Governor Agbu Kefas defect to the party, which is misleading and causing divisions among the members of APC in Warwar Ward.

The ward EXCO saw these actions as attempts to disrupt the party and undermine its constitutional framework

According to them, the legislator’s actions have allegedly violated Article 21 of the APC constitution (as amended 2022), constituting a gross overreach of authority.

Meanwhile, the acting ward chairman, Mohammed Hamman Adama, stated that the decision represented the unified stance of all executives in the ward. “What we have done today reflects the collective position of the Warwar APC Ward EXCO, and we stand by it,” he affirmed.

Backing the decision, ward youth leader Kila Hassan Bakari alleged that Hon. Diah had failed to establish ties with the ward leadership since his election in 2023.

He raised questions about the authenticity of the lawmaker’s engagement with the ward, saying, “The origin of his membership card is unknown to us. He has never visited our office.”

According to the EXCO, copies of the suspension letter have been sent to the zonal chairman and other relevant stakeholders for further action.

Taraba State APC spokesman Aaron Artimas rejected the suspension, pointing out that the State Working Committee had not been officially notified.

He stated that the proper procedures were not adhered to, rendering the ward’s action ineffective.

In spite of this, the Warwar Ward EXCO reiterates that Hon. Diah remains prohibited from participating in all APC meetings, activities, and decision-making processes within Sardauna Local Government Area until further notice.

They contend that the suspension is necessary to ensure party unity, maintain discipline, and safeguard the integrity of the APC in both Sardauna and Taraba State.
