Taraba Teachers Re-Elect Nathan Solomon As State Chairman

The Taraba State Wing Chairman of the Nigeria Union of Teachers (NUT), Comrade Nathan Solomon, has been re-elected for another four-year term.

Solomon was returned at the end of the union’s Quadrennial Delegate Conference held in Gembu, headquarters of Sardauna Local Government Area of the state.
Other officials elected include Timothy Juyoh as Vice Chairman I, Roland Danjuma as Vice Chairman II, Blessing Joseph Machoko as Deputy Chairman, and Abena Kataps as Treasurer.
In his post-election remarks, Solomon expressed gratitude to the delegates for their confidence in his leadership, promising a new dawn for teachers across the state.
He pledged to maintain an open-door administration, describing the conference as an opportunity for reflection, dialogue, and renewed commitment to the union’s ideals.
The Chairman noted that hosting the event in Gembu was in honour of the late former Chairman, Comrade Jonah Kataps, whom he praised for his passion and dedication to the NUT.
Highlighting achievements recorded under his first tenure, Solomon cited the clearing of secretariat staff salary arrears from 2021 to date and the construction of a recreation centre in Wukari.
He appealed to Governor Agbu Kefas to address the four months of outstanding salaries inherited from the previous administration, promote teachers to Grade Level 17, and appoint qualified teachers as Permanent Secretaries in the state.
Speaking at the event, the Chairman of Sardauna Local Government Area, Umar Mohammed, commended Governor Kefas for his continuous support of the education sector, while other labour and government representatives also delivered goodwill messages at the event.
