Bauchi: GOC Assumes Direct Command Over Alkaleri LGA Attacks

From Abubakar Hardawa

The General Officer Commanding, GOC 3rd Division of the Nigerian Army,  Major General Eyitayo Foluso Oyinlola, has assumed direct command of military operations in the Alkaleri Local Government Area of Bauchi State.

This follows recent security breaches in communities within the area.

Major General Oyinlola stated that his deployment from Jos to Alkaleri aligns with directives from the Chief of Defence Staff to oversee ongoing operations and strengthen security presence in the troubled region.

During a courtesy visit to Governor Bala Mohammed at the Government House in Bauchi, the GOC assured that the military is fully committed to restoring lasting peace and preventing further attacks on vulnerable communities.

He revealed that proactive and coordinated strategies are currently being implemented to eliminate criminal elements responsible for recent bandit attacks in Mansur, Digare, Gwana, and Yalo communities within Alkaleri LGA.

Responding, Governor Bala Mohammed of Bauchi state commended the swift intervention of the Presidency and the military high command.

He described the move as a clear demonstration of the Federal Government’s commitment to safeguarding lives and property.

The Governor expressed confidence in the Nigerian Army’s ability to decisively confront and overcome emerging security threats in the affected areas.

He noted that Bauchi State had enjoyed relative peace prior to the recent bandit attacks in those communities, which have since caused displacement and heightened anxiety among residents.
