Yorro LGA: Rotary Club Provides Water To Manang Community

The importance of water to human existence and daily life activities cannot be overemphasize.
Most communities in Taraba state have been facing acute shortage of portable drinking water for a very long time with some even using the same water sources with animals resulting in crisis or outbreak of different diseases.
Manang community in Yorro Local Government Area of Taraba State is one of the communities which suffered such situations but their story has now changed as the Rotary club of Jalingo City has commissioned two hand pump boreholes in the community to bring relief to the people.
The water problem in Manang community especially the hardship the people of the community have to go through daily in search of drinking water is better imagined and the video clips of such hardship was uploaded on one of the social media platforms which attracted the attention of the President of the Rotary club of Jalingo City, Rotarian Godfrey Wesley Tafida.
Seeing the plight of the people, the humanity side of Rotarian Godfrey Wesley Tafida immediately swung into action as he mobilized resources through the Rotary club of Jalingo city to quickly intervene by providing safe, clean and portable drinking water to Manang Koppo and Dogan sabon gida communities of Yorro local government area of Taraba state.
Speaking before commissioning the two boreholes, the Rotary Club of Jalingo City President said he was really touched by the water scarcity crisis in the community and through concerted efforts and financial contributions from prominent individuals, they were able to raise the fund for the installation of the two boreholes.
According to him, with the provision of the boreholes, the people of the community will no longer be drinking the same water with animals.
He charged the people to make judicious use of the project for their benefit.
He said the Rotary Club of Jalingo City has been playing pivotal roles in addressing critical needs of the people through intervention in various sectors as part of their community collaboration to complement efforts of the government as well as provide basic necessities of life for the progress of the people and communities.
Also speaking, the Chairman of Yorro Local Government Area, Hon Martina Anthony who was represented by the Councilor representing Pupule ward, Hon Rohaninya Ishaya commended the Rotary Club of Jalingo City for its sheer display of humanity and generosity which she said has helped solved an age long water scarcity in Manang community.
According to her, the intervention is coming at the right time as it will enable government to focus on other communities, calling on wealthy people, corporate and private individuals to emulate the Rotary Club of Jalingo City.
The joy of the people of Manang Koppo and Dogan sabon gida community of Manang was displayed as they lauded the Rotary Club of Jalingo City President, Rotarian Godfrey Wesley Tafida and those who contributed to the success of the project, which they described a live wire to them, promising to safeguard the project.
In a short remark, Dr Ishaku Bitrus Manang who hails from the community, said the plight and the hardships the people of the community passed through were of great concern to him.
He said he has been posting about the many challenges confronting the community through the social media, which includes lack of a medical healthcare center, deplorable road to the community and collapsed structures in the primary school, saying water was the most paramount.
He thanked the Rotary Club of Jalingo City for coming to the aid of the community, praying God to bless them richly.
