YOBE OPENS TENDER FOR COMPREHENSIVE ROAD MAP TO DEVELOP SOLID MINERALS SECTOR

The Yobe State Ministry of Commerce, Industry, Tourism and Solid Minerals has opened a tender bids for consultancy service in respect of production of comprehensive road map to develop the Solid Minerals in the state.

This development is contained in a Press Release signed by Mallam Suleiman Baba Gimba, Information and Public Relations Officer of the Yobe State Ministry of Commerce, Industries, Tourism and Solid Minerals.

Speaking during the opening ceremony at the Conference Hall of the Ministry in Damaturu, the Commissioner of the Ministry, Rt. Hon Kaigama Umar, said, in line with the Procurement Act, the tender was advertised in two national dailies commencing from 3rd January, 2025.

He stressed that, five companies indicated their interest for the bid and all of them responded which includes, I focus consult Ltd, Matlock Nigeria and partners Ltd, Ahila Technology Ltd, Dotnet Technology limited and Pataways Mapping respectively.

The Commissioner revealed that, Yobe is a home of Solid Minerals and well known to all, saying most of the northern states depends on the federation account allocation which is grossly inadequate to achieve their desired goals for the state.

“We must work for different ways and means of generating of our local resources to complement what we are getting from the federation account “. Kaigama said.

The Commissioner noted that, the Ministry will submit the bids documents to technical sessions to critically look at it, analyse and send it to Bureau on public procurement for final vettings.

In his remarks on behalf of the companies that applied for the tender bids, Barrister Joel Duku from Maxlock Nigeria and partners Ltd, thanked the Yobe state Government for abiding by the Procurement Act, pointing out that, this is a process that has been adopted for the best practices all over the world.

” The Ministry of Commerce and Yobe State Government is following the practice, this is something very commendable “. He said.
