Yobe Gov Declares Open Special Day at 47th Kaduna International Trade Fair

Yobe State Governor, (Dr) Mai Mala Buni has officially declared open the Yobe State Special Day at the ongoing 47th Kaduna International Trade Fair, currently taking place in Kaduna, Kaduna State.
Tagged ” From Reforms to Results: Economic Transformation through Sustainable Local content Development.”
Represented by the Permanent Secretary, Ministry of Commerce, Industry, Tourism and Solid Minerals, Zannah Ali Ibrahim, Gov Buni described as most appropriate and could not have come at a better time than now considering the current global economic situation with the internal challenges which are impacting negatively on the National economy.
He added, “It is however, pertinent to note that since the return of democratic governance in 1999, the country has witnessed a lot of socio- economic reforms aimed at revamping the economy through public private partnership and creating a conducive atmosphere for Foreign Direct Investments (FDI).
In Yobe State, “We are blessed with abundant potentials for Agro- Allied Industries, Solid Minerals development and Tourism which if properly harnessed could launch it as the Industrial giant of the North East sub region.
However, in order to achieve this objective, the Yobe State Government has created the Yobe Investment Company Limited and the Small Scale Industries Credit Board to harness these Agro- Allied and Mineral resources.
Some of the Agro Allied resources included millet, sorghum, maize, Gum Arabic, Sesame seeds, rice, beans, guna seeds, castor seeds, Livestock, fish, tomatoes, onions among others.
While, in the field of Solid Mineral deposits, Yobe State could be easily be termed as the “Home of Solid Minerals in the country.”
This is due to the fact that Minerals such as Gypsum, Lime Stone, Trona, Kaolin, Diatomite, Glass sand ,Clay shale and Bentonite among others in appreciable quantities in the state.
In his welcome remarks, Yobe State Commissioner of Commerce, Industry, Tourism and Solid Minerals, Rt Hon. Kaigama Umar, represented by the Director Commerce, Audu Abubakar Daya, Commended Governor Buni for approval with dispatch the participation and giving all the necessary support to the Yobe state contingent including Yobe Chamber of Commerce, Industry, Mines and Agriculture (YOCCIMA) to partake in this very important International Trade Fairs and other trade fairs across the nation.
He added that, “It is our hope that our participation would induce the desired result of heavy flow of Investments into Yobe State.
In his welcome address, The President, Kaduna Chamber of Commerce, Alhaji Farsman, said the trade fair and exhibitions play crucial role in encouraging growth of economic activities.
He said this is what the Kaduna International trade fair has been doing over the years during which it provides enabling environment for Local and international businesses to connect and transact.
