Yobe Gov Declares First Mini Trade Fair Open

The Yobe State Ministry of Commerce, Industry, Tourism and Solid Minerals in collaboration with Jalayi Traders Company organised a mini trade fair at Ibrahim Gaidam ultra modern market, Damaturu, the Yobe State capital.

In a Press Release made available to Echo Express, Mallam Suleiman Baba Gimba, the Information/Public Relations Officer of the Yobe State Ministry of Commerce, Industry, Tourism and Solid Minerals, said the theme of the mini trade fair is BOOSTING THE ECONOMIC ACTIVITY OF YOBE STATE THROUGH MODERN MARKET DEVELOPMENT

In his speech, the Yobe State Governor, Hon. Mai Mala Buni said, the occasion is to demonstrate a commitment to supporting businesses and entrepreneurs in Yobe State and at the same time provide a platform for them to showcase their products and services and potentially generate new business opportunities which can lead to economic growth and community development.

Buni added, trade fairs are widely regarded as avenues for accessing research findings, new technologies and ideas towards actualizing scientific and socio economic advancement for industrialists and policy makers through face to face interactions.

They also serve as platforms for addressing underdevelopment issues and wellbeing of the citizenry through public and private sectors collaborations.

Yobe state Government has developed an industrial policy to turn around the fortunes of the state’s economy.

The policy aims at giving the necessary incentives to small and medium scale enterprises.

The Ministry of Commerce Industry Tourism and Solid Minerals, Yobe Investment Company Limited and the Small Scale Industries Credit Scheme Board have been mandated to implement the policy.

In addition the Yobe Agency for Public Private Partnership and Investment Promotion (YAPPPIP) has been established with aim of attracting Investment into the state. He added

Governor Buni was represented by the Yobe State Commissioner, Ministry of Commerce Industry Tourism and Solid Minerals, Rt. Hon Kaigama Umar.


In his address the Commissioner, Yobe State Ministry of Commerce Industry Tourism and Solid Minerals, represented by the Permanent Secretary of the ministry, Zannah Ali Ibrahim said, since the inception of this administration under the abled leadership of Hon Buni, the government gave top most priority to Commerce and Industries which led to the construction of ultra modern markets across the state, resuscitation of all Companies in the state and construction of four Sesame seed processing factories in four Local Government Areas of the state is already completed waiting for commissioning, among others.

He added, this mini trade fair is organized to provide tremendous opportunities for promoting good business relationship among the businessmen and women across the state, including companies and any other business establishment for mutual benefits and socio economic development of the state and country at large.

Earlier in his welcomed address, the President, Yobe Chamber of Commerce Industry Mines and Agriculture, Musa Aji Suleiman represented by Mai Musa Kaku said, the modern markets, the first of its kind anywhere in Nigeria are designed to accommodate all categories of businesses irrespective of type, size and capital base.

Without doubt, these infrastructural facilities are agents of Industrial and Commercial development of any society, as they lead to creation of employment opportunities, wealth creation and poverty reduction, as well as, attract Investments and bring about peaceful and sustainable social co existence. Indeed it must be noted that these Investments add to sources of revenue generation to the state.
