Yobe State is richly endowed with untapped potential for the development of its tourism industry.
In a bid to promote and explore these attractions, the Commissioner for Commerce, Industry, Tourism, and Solid Minerals, Rt. Hon. Kaigama Umar, has embarked on a two-day tour of select tourist sites within the state.
The Commissioner’s tour began with visits to the Bula-Budu Sand Dunes and the Ngwar Jau Oasis in Yunusari Local Government Area.
Along the way, he made an unscheduled stop at one of the ultra-modern markets constructed under the administration of Governor Mai Mala Buni in Kanamma, the headquarters of Yunusari Local Government Area.
During his visit to the market construction site, the Commissioner inspected the ongoing work, commended the contractor for their efforts, and expressed satisfaction with the level of progress recorded in the execution of the project.
In an interview, residents of the community, expressed gratitude to the state government for prioritizing infrastructure development, emphasizing the positive impact the modern market would have on their daily lives and economic activities.
On the second day, the tour continued in Yusufari Local Government Area, where the Commissioner visited the renowned Tulo-Tulowa Sand Dunes and Oasis.
Tulo-Tulowa, often referred to as the “Desert Land of Hope,” is a breathtaking marshy oasis located in a low valley within the desert.
With its abundant water supply and picturesque views, the area has significant potentials to attract tourists.
Access to Tulo-Tulowa, however, requires the use of four-wheel drive vehicles due to the challenging terrain.
This tour highlights the Yobe State Government’s commitment to exploring and developing its tourism potentials, fostering economic growth, and improving the lives of its residents.
Accompanying the Commissioner were the Permanent Secretary of the Ministry, Zannah Ali Ibrahim, Directors of the ministry among others.
