Wunti Al-Khair Foundation is purely humanitarian not a political group, says Director, Programmes

The Wunti Al-Khair Foundation has distanced itself from any link to a political group, movement or party as is erroneously held by people of Bauchi State, stressing that it is a purely non-partisan and non-profit making humanitarian organisation.

This clarification was made by the Director of Programmes of the Foundation, Mustapha Ango, during a Press briefing held on Wednesday at the Conference Hall of the Nigeria Union of Journalists (NUJ), Bauchi State Council.
Mustapha Ango explained that Wunti Al-Khair Foundation is a non-political, charity organization but their mandate is purely humanitarian and developmental.
“We have observed with concern that some individuals attempt to impersonate the Foundation or use our name for political or personal gains. Let me state categorically that we dissociate
ourselves completely from such actions.”
He urged the public and colleagues in the media to always verify any information
about the Foundation directly from their office or official channels before transmission, saying together, we must protect the integrity of the work we are doing,” he concluded.
The Director stated that over the past months, they have rolled out several initiatives that cut across different sectors, such as on Technology and Youths Empowerment, adding that the Bala Wunti Technology Fellows Industrial Visit to Lagos was one of the major highlights of the work of the Foundation this year, saying it has been the progress of the Bala Wunti
Technology Fellowship.
He explained that, this programme is designed to prepare young people from Bauchi for the future of work, equipping them with the skills, exposure, and networks they need to thrive in the technology-driven economy.
Mustapha Ango added that, “recently, The Bala Wunti Tech Fellowship 2025 cohort embarked on a transformative industrial experience trip to Lagos, coinciding with GITEX Nigeria 2025, as part of the Wunti Al-Khair Foundation’s mission to build a technologically advanced Bauchi by equipping youth with globally relevant skills and exposure.”
He pointed out that at GITEX, fellows engaged with global and local technology leaders, explored emerging digital trends, and built valuable networks.
“A standout moment came when Muhammad, a 2024 fellow, showcased his startup at the exhibition, a milestone that highlighted how the fellowship is nurturing Bauchi-born innovators for national and international impact.”
According to him,”A particularly exciting moment was the tour of the Huawei Innovation Centre where our fellows explored opportunities for: Internships that will give them practical, hands-on experience.
“Technology infrastructure support that could help us strengthen Bauchi’s growing digital ecosystem and Knowledge exchange collaborations that will bridge the gap between global best practices and local opportunities.”
“For many of the fellows, this was their first time engaging directly with multinational firms and seeing the scale of Nigeria’s technology sector. As one fellow put it, “This visit showed us that Bauchi youth can be part of the global innovation conversation if given the right platform,” he added.
He expressed confidence that the seeds planted during this trip will grow into partnerships that will benefit not just the fellows, but the broader Bauchi innovation community.
On Agricultural Development, he said that Fertiliser for Farmers Initiative under BAAP was launched considering that Agriculture is the backbone of Bauchi State’s economy. Yet, many small holder farmers face significant challenges, especially when it comes to accessing critical inputs like fertiliser.
Through the Bauchi Agricultural Advancement Program (BAAP), it recently launched the Fertiliser for Farmers Initiative, programme providing fertiliser to 6,000 farmers across several local government areas of the State.
Mustapha pointed out that the objectives are clear to improve soil fertility and crop yields, reduce the financial burden on farmers who often struggle to afford inputs, ensure food security for households in Bauchi State, and move Bauchi closer to becoming a recognized agricultural hub in Nigeria.
“We believe that when we empower farmers, we empower families. And when families prosper, the entire state prospers. As I often say, “Every bag of fertiliser we provide is not just an input- it is an investment in Bauchi’s future,” he added.
On entrepreneurship and Small Business Growth, he stated that Bauchi Business Clinic and Free CAC Registration was another area where the Foundation has made significant strides in entrepreneurship and business development.
According to him, “We understand that small businesses are the engine of job creation and innovation.”

Your reports, features, and coverage help us reach more people, inspire hope, and demonstrate that development is happening right here in Bauchi. He also stressed that,The Wunti Al-Khair Foundation is committed to one thing: building stronger, healthier, and more prosperous communities.
“Whether through empowering our youth with technology skills, supporting our farmers with inputs, helping entrepreneurs formalize their businesses, or providing relief to vulnerable families, our focus is impact, not politics.”
The Director, Programmes of the Foundation promised to continue to design and deliver programmes that respond to the real needs of our people.
