Wukari Traditional Council To Modernize the Historical Crocodile Pond

The Wukari Traditional Council is working towards reviving and remodeling the Crocodile Pond in Wukari Local Government Area of Taraba State.
The Aku Uka, Dr Ishaku Adda Ali, Matakhitswen I, announced the intention of the Council while speaking at the Maiden Summit of the Abi’u Bauka, a socio – cultural and development Association, held at the Patience Event Centre, Wukari.

He stressed that the Council is taking the measure to make the site a tourist attraction that will not only serve as a revenue source, but it will also revive the long standing historical significance of the Pond to the entire Kwararafa Kingdom.
The Monarch called on the sons and daughters of the Kingdom to support the move in whatever way possible to realize the plan.
He called for unity and understanding among the Jukun speaking people across the length and breath of the country for the overall progress and development of the race.
While stressing the need to promote the Jukun language to save it from extinction, Dr Ishaku Adda Ali, called on his subjects to support the Governor Agbu Kefas led administration to ensure its success.
Welcoming guests to the event, the National President of the Abi’u Bauka, Arc Dan’azumi Agbu, outlined some of the achievements recorded by the current National leadership.
They include acquiring a land for the Association, submitting a request for the creation of Kwararafa State, with headquarters in Wukari, meeting with the relevant stakeholders towards ensuring that the educational sector is greatly improved as well as the hosting of the summit among others.
He equally identified some of the pressing challenges confronting the area, which includes lack of unity, insecurity, politics with bitterness, lack of financial support from the relevant authorities to boost agriculture and empowerment for the people, threat of extinction of the Jukun language among others.
There were several comments, observations and suggestions from the members including traditional rulers on how best to tackle the teething problems facing the people.
The maiden Summit featured the presentation of awards to several deserving personalities from the area, who have distinguished themselves in their fields of endeavours.
They include the Taraba State Governor, Dr Agbu Kefas, Air Vice Marshall Mohammed S. Usman (Rtd), Barr Damian Dodo, a Senior Advocate and Prof Abubakar Musa Kundiri.
Others are Chief (Dr) Adi Pajo, Mr Josiah Habu and Alhaji Fadallah Habu Fari.
Responding on behalf of the awardees, Mr Josiah Habu spoke at length on the evolution of the Jukun Development Association, stressing the need for unity and love among the Jukun people.
He called for support of the entire people of Taraba state for Governor Agbu Kefas to enable him succeed in his genuine to transform the state the state for greatness.
Speaking shortly after the event in an interview with Echo Express, the National Public Relations Officer of the Association, Mr Alhassan Abdullahi Agyo, urged the members to utilised the lessons learned from the Summit to contribute their quota to the reformation vision of the Jukun Nation.
He noted that the summit which recorded tremendous success can only be appreciated when its lessons are allowed to serve as compass to the Jukun Nation in its daily engagements.
The Abi’u Bauka National Public Relations Officer therefore called on sons and daughters of Wukari worldwide not to relent in supporting leaders of the Association who are working round the clock to achieve the goals of the Association.
