The Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) chairmanship candidate for Wukari Local Government Area of Taraba State, Hon Bala Useni, has pledged to deliver urban renewal, inclusive governance and sustainable development if elected in the forthcoming council polls.

Hon Bala Useni
In an exclusive interview with The PUNCH at the weekend, Useni said his vision was to build “a peaceful, inclusive and developed Wukari where every citizen feels the impact of government.”
He explained that his mission was to align the council’s programmes with Governor Agbu Kefas’s Moving Forward agenda, with focus on infrastructure, empowerment, peacebuilding and accountability.
“Wukari is the heartbeat of Taraba. Under my leadership, every ward, every community, and every family will feel the impact of government. This is the governor’s home council, and we can not afford to disappoint him and the people. I will work closely with the governor to bring development to Wukari.
The PDP candidate listed infrastructure, erosion control, sanitation, security and inclusiveness as his priorities, even as he pledged to seek the state support for the rehabilitation of township roads, construct drainages and culverts for the good of the people.
On sanitation, Useni said he would launch a “Clean Wukari Campaign” to mobilise schools, religious groups, traders and youths in keeping the town clean. He also promised monthly sanitation days with strict enforcement and youth engagement in waste recycling to create jobs.
Useni noted that under his watch security will be strengthened as he pledged to collaborate with vigilantes, the Taraba Marshall and federal security agencies to secure the area, while prioritising peacebuilding dialogues to reduce communal tensions.
“Wukari occupies a special place in Taraba’s history and politics. We must match that pride with visible development. With Governor Kefas’s Moving Forward agenda, we will not fail our people,” Useni said.
