The Wukari Elders and Stakeholders Forum of the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP have passed a vote of confidence in the newly elected State Women Leader of the Party, Mrs Lois Emmanuel Angyu.
The decision of the Forum is contained in a Press Statement in Wukari signed by the Chairman of the Forum, Hon Joseph Magaji Tahwa and made available to Echo Express in Jalingo on Sunday.
The Forum said it fully supports the election of Mrs Lois Emmanuel Angyu as the Women Leader and believes in her ability to deliver and serve the interest of women in Taraba State and beyond.
The Forum was reacting to protests by a certain group of women against the election of the State PDP Women Leader in the just conducted State Congress of the Party held in Jalingo, the Taraba State Capital.
“We are disappointed by the actions of these women, whom we have identified as being sponsored by detractors of our great party and by some individuals intent on disrupting the unity of the PDP and undermining the legacy of Governor Agbu Kefas.
“It is important for the general public to know that, in accordance with the guidelines and constitution of our party, the position of Women Leader was zoned to Wukari in Taraba State. Party stakeholders in both Wukari and Taraba State unanimously endorsed Mrs. Lois Emmanuel Angyu as their candidate, and she was elected by all state delegates unopposed.
“To our surprise, we witnessed a protest from women in the Northern Zone, opposing the collective choice of our delegates and members, which is in direct violation of the party principles”.
The Wukari PDP Elders and Stakeholders Forum therefore stressed that Mrs. Lois Emmanuel Angyu was duly elected as the State Women Leader by the delegates and remains the choice of the people.
According to the Forum, Mrs. Lois has consistently demonstrated dedication, hard work, commitment, sincerity, loyalty, and leadership, contributing immensely to the success of the PDP at all levels.
“She possesses the qualifications, competence, and capacity to represent PDP women effectively, and she has the ability to mobilize support for the party.
“In light of the above, we call on the protesting women and their sponsors to cease their unconstitutional actions and adhere to the rules of the party by being disciplined, law-abiding, respectful, and loyal members’.
“As elders and stakeholders of the PDP, we fully support the election of Mrs. Lois Emmanuel Angyu as the Women Leader of the PDP in Taraba State.
“After careful deliberation, we have passed a vote of confidence in her leadership and we are confident in her ability to deliver and serve the interests of all women in Taraba State and beyond”.
