We will support FRSC to minimize road accidents in Bauchi, says BAHA Speaker

Speaker of the Bauchi State House of Assembly, Rt Hon Abubakar Y. Suleiman, has promised to support the Bauchi Sector Command of the Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC) to ensure safer roads in the state.
He stressed the need for all relevant traffic agencies like the FRSC to be up and doing to ensure safer roads as well as minimize roads accidents.
The Speaker was speaking yesterday when the FRSC, RS12.1 Bauchi Sector Command under the leadership of CC Istifanus Ibrahim accompanied by the Senior Officers of the Command and Special Marshals paid a visit to Speaker in the assembly chamber.
“Your business is to ensure that road traffic accidents are minimize therefore, you need to be supported. Other relevant agencies must support your efforts in that direction.” He said
Abubakar Suleiman also assured that the Assembly will always do positive legislations and oversight to ensure that things move smoothly in the State, assuring that all existing traffic laws and regulations in the State will be sustained and strengthened for safety of citizens.
He advised that there should not be any friction between the FRSC and the State Traffic agency, BAROTA, or any agency in the state, considering that the intent is one, to avoid unnecessary and avoidable road crashes or avoidable accidents.
The Speaker assured that the Assembly will always work with the FRSC for smooth road traffic management in the state, pointing out that a Liaison officer will be requested to ensure proper coordination between the House and the Sector Command in the state.
, “I am assuring you that, if not everyone, majority of us will join the Special Marshalls to contribute to the safety of the roads. We are all passionate about humanity and humanitarian services.” He said
The Speaker commended the timely arrival of the Sector Commander and said that the House under his leadership is open to look into all the requests laid by the Sector Commander for possible implementation.
Speaking earlier, the Sector Commander said that the purpose of the visit was to strengthen relationship with the House of Assembly as it affects road traffic management across the State.
He requested the need for FRSC to have a liaison officer in the State House of Assembly as well as assistance in terms of legislation to fight against overloading of humans and animals by motorists in the state especially on market days.
The Sector Commander noted with concern the illegal siting of Motor Parks around roundabouts hence the need for legislative action against dichotomy of Federal and State roads to ensure safer roads.
Istifanus Ibrahim then advocated for the need to assist in creating a strong synergy between FRSC and the state Traffic agency (BAROTA) just as he called on the Speaker and the members of the House to join the Special Marshals in the state.
