Uromi Killings: NSNCM Demands Justice for Victims

The Nineteen Seventeen Northern Consensus Movement (NSNCM) has strongly condemned the recent jungle justice incident in Uromi, Edo State, where a group of Northerners were brutally killed.
Awwal Abdullahi Aliyu, National President of NSNCM in a Press statement, said the group has been documenting various cases of violence against Northerners across the country, including the killing of hundreds in the South East by the proscribed IPOB and ESN. and the Sasha Akinyele killings.
The NSNCM noted that there are continuous silent killings and confiscation of properties of Northerners on a daily basis, often under the guise of community tax collection.
The group demanded quick action to fish out the perpetrators of the Uromi killings and bring them to justice, ensuring compensation for the families of the victims.
The NSNCM emphasized the need for reciprocity, noting that Northerners reside peacefully in the South and engage in economic and social activities.
“We have had enough of these heinous, barbaric, and animalistic crimes against innocent Northerners,” Aliyu said.

“We demand quick action from the federal and state governments to address this issue and ensure justice for the victims and their families.”
The NSNCM also called on Northern governors, senators, and leaders to act collectively to address the situation and calm the youths.
“We need to remind the Eastern, Southern, and Western indigenes to desist from attacking our Northern citizens,” Aliyu said.
The group suggested setting up a joint board of enquiry to investigate the Uromi killings and recommend punitive measures.
Aliyu also acknowledged the efforts of the Presidency, the Governor of Edo State, and security agencies in addressing the issue.
The NSNCM has set up a 5-man committee to travel to Uromi for a fact-finding mission and will closely monitor the investigation and prosecution of offenders.
