Troops Apprehend Suspected Boko Haram Terrorist in Taraba

Troops of the 6 Brigade Nigerian Army/ Sector 3 Operation Whirl Stroke, OPWS, have arrested a suspected member of the Boko Haram terrorist group, identified as Gambo Grema,valso know as Gamboi, in Maihula town in Bali Local Government Area of Taraba State.
This is contained in a Press Release by the Acting Assistant Director, 6 Brigade Army Public Relations, Captain Olubodunde Oni and made available to newsmen in Jalingo, the state capital.
“The gallant troops of 6 Brigade Nigerian Army/Sector 3 of Operation Whirl Stroke (OPWS), have recorded another milestone in their relentless efforts to ensure peace and security in Taraba State.
“During preliminary investigations, the suspect confessed to being part of a syndicate deployed by Boko Haram to Taraba State.
“Their mission was to engage in kidnapping for ransom as a means of financing their terrorist operations and to establish a new cell within the state.
” The suspect further revealed that the syndicate also harbored members of the Islamic State In West Africa Province (ISWAP) who were deployed from the Timbuktu Triangle to carry out other criminal activities.
The Commander 6 Brigade Nigerian Army Brigadier General Kingsley Chidiebere Uwa, while commenting on the operation, noted that the operation underscores the commitment of 6 Brigade Nigerian Army/Sector 3 OPWS to neutralizing threats posed by terrorist elements and safeguarding the lives and property of citizens in Taraba State and beyond.
He assured the public that it remains resolute in its mission to maintain peace and stability in the region.
General Uwa equally urged members of the public to continue cooperating with security agencies by providing timely and credible information to aid ongoing operations.
The suspect was arrested on the 26th of January 2025, according to the Press Release.
