Rev. Dopah spoke with newsmen during an interview shortly after the 2024 Christmas Interdenominational Combined Service organized by the Jalingo branch of the Christian Association of Nigeria (CAN) in Taraba State.
The service held at the Lutheran Church of Christ in Nigeria (LCCN) St. Luke Cathedral Mayo-Gwoi, Jalingo, the clergy stressed that government of all nations are sinking their huge economic resources looking for peace just because there is no peace.
Dopah, who is the interim secretary, State chapter of CAN said christian faithful in the spirit of Christmas, gathered at LCCN to encourage and advise themselves to be peacemakers, peace ambassadors, to seek for peace, to work for peace and to reduce the burden of lack of peace in the world.
The cleric further stressed the need for churches in Taraba State not to compromise the peace and unity the people have been enjoying over the years.
“if we venture make a little mistake, and allow division to do away with the peace and unity that we are enjoying in the body of Christ, we will regret it”, he said.
Describing Christmas as a gift of hope Rev Dopah emphasized that there is no reason why the children of light would not gather to share the gift of hope to one another and to other brothers, widows, orphans, and to those in need.
“Freely we receive, freely we will give, you don’t receive the gift of a new born child and keep it within yourself, he came as a good news to us, and so we will share the good news”, said Rev. Dopah.
He also charged media practitioners in the State to also use their medium to share the good news to the entire world.
“You the media people, you have to use your medium too, to share the good news of our Lord and Saviour Jesus Christ by giving credible and honest reports to the entire word”, he
added.
Our Correspondent gathered that the leadership of the Jalingo branch of CAN gave Awards of Excellence to some personalities across the State who distinguished themselves in different fields of endeavour.
