TETFUND enlists COAST Jalingo, approves commencement of special intervention projects

The Tertiary Education Trust Fund (TETFUND), has enlisted the College of Agriculture, Science and Technology, Jalingo in Taraba State into its programmes.

The Rector of the institution, Dr. Yakubu Ali Garjila who disclosed this to newsmen in Jalingo, the Taraba State Capital on Friday while giving highlights on the progress of the College, said the Fund has also approved the commencement of special intervention projects in the institution.

He noted that, the special intervention is centered on skills development and not building of new structures or Staff training adding that, interventions for Staff training and building of new structures would commence in 2026.

“I really thank God because what we have been hoping for, has come to stay. I was invited to Abuja last week for collection of letter from TETFUND for special intervention projects in our School which I went and when I returned, I held meeting with the College Management and briefed them on the matter after which, I called for Congress meeting also to that effect,”.

The Rector stated further that, the College management has selected four Departments that would benefit from the special intervention including; Fisheries, Forestry, Horticulture and Entrepreneurship Development Centre.

“The Fisheries department is going to be fenced and equipped with Dam, water tanks, surface tanks among other equipment for effective Fish Farming.

“The Entrepreneurship Development Center would be renovated and equipped with Computers, sewing machines, hair dressing machines among other things. Some Staff within the selected areas would be trained for effective management and training of trainees.

“We are making efforts to prepare the documents and send back to TETFUND so they can also provide the Bill of quantity and equally release funds to the Contractors for commencement of work. I am the happiest person today because even if I leave the College now, I know I have done something tangible,” he stated.

He however, appreciated the former Acting Governor of Taraba State, Alhaji Sani Abubakar Danladi who is a member of the Board of TETFUND for his assistance, commending Gov. Agbu Kefas for standing by the College at all times.
