TARABANS HONOUR GENERAL T.Y. DANJUMA AT 88

Tarabans in Jalingo gathered to celebrate retired General Theophilus Yakubu Danjuma on his 88th birthday, praising his national influence, philanthropy, and impact on the state.
Chairman of the occasion, former Governor of Taraba State, Rev. Jolly Nyame, described Danjuma as a patriot and humanitarian whose actions once safeguarded traditional rulers during a turbulent period in Nigeria’s history.
He said the General’s development footprint is visible nationwide and noted that while Lagos hosted its own celebration, Tarabans felt it important to honour him at home.
Nyame highlighted ongoing projects in Takum including electricity, aviation, education, and road development and expressed hope that these initiatives would extend across the state.
HRH the Kur Kona, Augustine Venkani, prayed for long life and good health for Danjuma, thanking him for his contributions to Taraba State and appealed for continued and more developments.
The NUJ State Chairman, Matthew Eliud Jen, described Danjuma as an inspiration and unifying figure whose leadership continues to influence both Taraba and Nigeria.
Hon. Titus Andrew, SSA to Governor Agbu Kefas and a member of the organising committee, said December 9 has become a symbolic day of appreciation in the state.
He pointed to Danjuma’s impact in Takum, the Kashimbila Dam area, and in education, describing him as “a father to all” and a man of peace whose example leaders should emulate.
The celebration featured diverse cultural groups, reflecting Danjuma’s broad acceptance across tribes and communities.
