Taraba: Unimaid Alumni moves to strengthen bond, organizes awards, reunion night

The Taraba State Chapter of the University of Maiduguri (Unimaid) Alumni Association, has strategized efforts to strengthen the bond existing between graduates of the institution who are residing in Taraba State.
As part of the strategy, the association, Friday, organized a maiden reunion and award night in Jalingo, the Taraba State Capital.
The event which attracted prominent sons and daughters of the state including the Governor of Taraba State, Dr Agbu Kefas, truly blew up a chopine where old friends and colleagues shared memories of university days and reunited for the common good of all members.
The maiden occasion also honoured the governor of Taraba State, Dr Agbu Kefas along side other distinguished personalities including Secretary to the State Government (SSG), Barr Gibon Kataps, Member House of Representatives, Hon Mark Useni and Rtn Jerry Orliver among others.
Addressing guests at the maiden occasion, the governor of Taraba State, Dr Agbu Kefas, represented by the (SSG), Barr Gibon Kataps, appreciated Unimaid Alumni Association for identifying with him and recognizing his efforts towards repositioning the state on the path of progress.
The governor lauded University of Maiduguri for producing sound and vibrant personalities who have reasonably constituted part of the driving force that is moving the state on the fast lane of development and charged members of the association to continue working hard and in unity so as to keep making their alma mater proud.
In his speech, the Chairman of the Steering Committee of the UNIMAID Alumni Association, Mr Justice John Yakubu appreciated God for elevating most of their members to occupy key positions in the government of the state and for keeping them alive up to the moment.
He lauded the uncommon unity and cooperation among members of the association and charged them to give back to the society, what they acquired at their alma mater, praying that God should continue refreshing their bonds for the good of the society.
The occasion which ended with a buffet dinner, was in a way, a justification of the fact that Unimaid has truly made personalities in Taraba State.
Speaking later in an interview with Journalists, a member of the Steering Committee, Rtn. Jerry Oliver appreciated members for turning up en mass to grace the maiden occasion.
He noted that the platform was basically aimed at uniting personalities who graduated from the University of Maiduguri to see how best they could impact positively, what they acquired from the University, for the development of Taraba State in particular and Nigeria at large
He urged members not to relent in their efforts towards building the nation but to continue working unanimously so that together they would serve humanity in the best way required the by their creator.
He appreciated the awards planning Committee for finding him and others worthy to be given the awards in recognition of their humanitarian services, saying that the award was a call for them do more.
