Taraba Traditional Ruler Gives Out Farm Harvests Free To Subjects

The District Head of Bakundi in Bakundi Chiefdom in Bali Local Government Area of Taraba State, Alhaji Inuwa Mohammed Misa has given out all the harvested crops from one of his farms to the less privileged in the community.

Alhaji Inuwa Mohammed Misa initially invited members of the community to assist him in the harvest of the 10 hectares of his maize farm.

However, after the harvest of two bags each by every individual, he announced that it was a gift meant to assist them and their families in the biting economic situation.

He warned the beneficiaries against selling the grains, advising them to use the harvested crops to feed their families.

When the news of the action of the Traditional ruler spread to Bali town, hundreds of people trooped to the farm located at Galadima Ajuji area for the free harvests.

Our Correspondent also reports that the entire 10 hectares farmland was harvested by not less than six hundred beneficiaries.

In an exclusive interview with Echo Express in his palace on why he decided to declare the farm as palliative to the people, the traditional ruler explained that he did that to express gratitude to God for sparing eight of his farms from the effects of the drought which affected most farms in the area.

He added that his decision to give out the harvests to the people is to provide succour following the hunger and hike in prices of foodstuffs being faced by the general populace.

Investigation conducted by Echo Express showed that the beneficiaries cut across every segment of the Society, with others who don’t want to be noticed in the harvest, send their children to benefit from the largesse.

A cross section of the beneficiaries interviewed, thanked the District Head for the kind gesture and implored others to emulate him.

In his remarks, 58 year old Baba Hurumi, confessed that he has never heard of anyone in the history of Bali Local Government Area who did this kind of thing.

He prayed to God to reward the traditional ruler abundantly for bringing succour to the people.
