Taraba TEKAN/ECWA, CAN celebrates end of 10 yrs tenure

The Rev. (Dr.) Philip Micah Dopah led administration of the TEKAN/ ECWA bloc of the Christian Association of Nigeria (CAN), Taraba State chapter has celebrated the end of its ten (10) years tenure.
The event held Sunday at the Secretariat of CAN in Jalingo was celebrated in conjunction with the 3rd Quarter Combined Service of the Southern Conference of the United Methodist Church (SCUMC), climaxed with a Thanksgiving service and Special Award presentation to some well deserved personalities from the State.
Addressing the congregation during a Sermon, the Guest speaker, former Vice Chairman of the Mambilla Baptist Convention of Nigeria (MBCN), Rev. (Hon) Joseph Titus Nagombe admonished Christians in the State to imbibe the culture of appreciating God even at difficult situations.

The Clergy who doubles as the State Commissioner, Ministry of Heritage and Eco-Tourism spoke on the topic, “The Lord is good all the time” which is also the theme of the programme.
Quoting from psalms 100:5, 34:8, among others to buttress his facts, Rev. Nagombe said, for you to recognize that the Lord is good, you must think above religion, tribe and politics being a man or woman saddled with one responsibility or the the other.
“As public servants, we don’t think of religion again because God does not see religion in us, He sees the life He created in us”.
According to the preacher, the Governor of the State gave him a responsibility to pilot the affairs of the State Ministry of Heritage and Eco-Tourism as Commissioner.
“As a Pastor and Commissioner saddled with the mandate to serve over 81 tribes in the State that have about 4 million people, I have to think above my religion, my tribe and even political affiliations. I have to be focused on how to serve the good people of Taraba with full faith in God”,
“Therefore, as you are carrying out an assignment of rendering services to the people, challenges must come and when you experience such, it does not stop you from acknowledging that the Lord is good”,
“The scripture has made us to understand that at all conditions, we should know that the Lord is good”, he added.
Earlier in an address of welcome, the Director, Connectional Ministries of the Southern Conference of the United Methodist Church (SCUMC), Rev. (Dr.) Philip Micah Dopah said, “the programme was aimed at worshipping God and appreciating some deserving personalities.

Rev. (Dr.) Dopah, who is also the acting secretary of the state CAN, chairman, TEKAN ECWA bloc of CAN in the State said the leadership of TEKAN/ECWA decided to acknowledge the efforts of the would be Awardees owing to their love, support and kindness shown and done to the body of Christ and the less privileged persons in the society.
He announced the State Governor, (Dr.) Agbu Kefas, Rt. Hon. Abel Peter Diah of Mbanmga constituency and former Speaker of the State House of Assembly, Rev (Dr.) Philip Micah Dopah State Chairman, TEKAN ECWA bloc and Acting Secretary of CAN and Hon. (Mrs) Martina Anthony, Chairperson of Yorro Local Government Area of the State as the beneficiaries.
The man of God, who further called on the worshipers to always love one another, carry each other’s burden and most importantly shun tribal Christianity added that they must pray and support Governor Agbu Kefas to succeed.
He further called on the Governor to reconsider his executive order banning the use of charcoal saying the masses are facing untold hardship due to the removal of fuel subsidy by the Federal Government.
Rev. (Dr.) Dopah emphasized the need for President Bola Ahmed Tinubu to form a reliable, dependable and strong economic team that will come up with strong economic policies, for better economic growth and development.
He said Nigerians are tired of persistent national grid collapse, tired of a country with high debt profile and a country with high rate of corruption.
