TARABA STATE UNIVERSITY TO PARTNERS L-PRES – VC.
The Vice Chancellor, Taraba State University, (TSU) Professor Paul Bako, said the Institution is ready to partner with the World Bank, through the Livestock Productivity and Resilience Support Project (LPRES).

Prof. Bako disclosed this, when the National Project Coordinator (NPC) of the Livestock productivity And Resilience Support Project, (L-PRES) Mr. Sanusi Abubakar, led the team of National Specialists from the L-PRES National Coordination Office (NCO) to him in Jalingo, the Taraba State Capital, recently.

The VC said integration for the livestock farming system, has been his vision for quite a long time, adding that it is what he intends to bequeath to the institution as his legacy before he quit the academy environment in the next few years, noting that the visit of the L-PRES was like a wake-up call to him to swing into action.
Prof. Paul Bako averted that he has a team in place which had already developed a proposal in that regard. He maintained that with the visit of the L-PRES, it’s an opportunity for him to key into the programme.
He said; “I am quite excited that we are having this collaboration. My staff here is part of the team that came out with a proposal of something similar or related to this matter. That is one of the things that i wanted to leave behind when I am leaving this place in the next two or three years.
“We discussed this matter with the team and I asked them to come out with a proposal for an integrated farming system. We were told at some point that the World Bank was going to give some money to some tertiary institutions who are interested in this kind of Project through the Banks. Years after years, we have been pushing for that but nothing came out of it. Maybe we are waiting for this opportunity,” he enthused.
The Vice Chancellor, maintained that,” i am very much interested in this project, to start with pasture production. Yes, we are ready and willing to partner in this project.”
Recall that, delegation from The National LPRES Coordination Office (NCO) were in Jalingo, to assess the Proposed Livestock Service Center (LSC), which Taraba L-PRES is competing for one slot out of five , alongside twelve other States.
As part of the institutional and Innovation system Strengthening ,the National L-PRES delegation had to visit livestock farms of the Taraba State University. They equally visited the feed and hatchery center, of College Of Agriculture, Science and Technology, Jalingo, as captured in the visitors’ itinerary by the LPRES State Project Coordinator (SPC) Mr. Hananiah G. Albert, who was also among the entourage alongside the Project Implementation Unit (PIU) Members, of the L-PRES , Taraba State.
