On August 27, 2025, Taraba State celebrates its 34th anniversary, marking over three decades since it was carved out as one of Nigeria’s youngest states.
Often referred to as the “Nature’s Gift to the Nation” due to its scenic landscapes, rolling hills, lush valleys, and serene rivers, Taraba is more than geography—it is a living tapestry of culture, resilience, and potential.
With over 70 ethnic groups, including the Jukun, Mumuye, Tiv, Fulani, Kuteb, and Chamba, Taraba’s strength lies in its diversity. Here, languages, traditions, and festivals interweave seamlessly, creating a society that thrives on unity in diversity. Events like the Belle Festival and other cultural celebrations not only preserve heritage but also act as a bridge between generations, inspiring young people to embrace their roots while contributing to modern development.
Over the years, Taraba has transitioned from a largely agrarian state to a hub of innovation and development. Under the leadership of Governor Agbu Kefas, the state has made bold strides across key sectors:
Infrastructure: The remodeling of Jalingo Airport now allows for modern cargo operations, positioning Taraba as a gateway for trade and tourism. Roads connecting urban centers to rural communities are being upgraded, opening markets for farmers and enhancing mobility.
Agriculture: The state’s high-tech Taraba Greenhouse Project is revolutionizing vegetable farming, equipping both students and farmers with skills for modern agriculture, while boosting food security.
Education & Empowerment: Investments in schools and skill acquisition programs aim to nurture the state’s greatest asset—its youth. Scholarships, vocational training, and youth-oriented initiatives are shaping a generation ready to compete nationally and globally.
Healthcare & Social Services: Health interventions and community outreach programs have strengthened access to healthcare, maternal services, and preventive care.
