Taraba State ALGON Endorse Dr Agbu Kefas As Best Governor of the Year – ALGON Chairman
The Assassination of Local Governments of Nigeria, ALGON Taraba State Chapter has endorsed Dr Agbu Kefas as the best Governor of the Year 2024 in the country. The Executive Chairman of Jalingo Local Government Council who also doubles as the State ALGON Chairman, Dr Aminu Jauro Hassan Mafindi who dropped the hint in an exclusive interview with our Correspondent in Jalingo revealed that the Taraba State Local Government Chairmen took this unanimous decision in view of the numerous developmental projects that Governor Agbu Kefas has executed within his short period of one year in office.

Echo Express: Our numerous readers across the globe would love to know you?
ALGON Chairman: Thank you very much. My name is Dr Aminu Hassan Jauro Mafindi. I am the Executive Chairman of Jalingo Local Government Council who also doubles as the ALGON Chairman, Taraba State Chapter and indeed the National Welfare Officer of ALGON.
Echo Express: The one year anniversary of Dr Agbu Kefas, the Governor of Taraba State has just passed and many people have made a lot of comments on his score card. Can we hear from you as the Taraba State ALGON Chairman as to whether or not his one year journey has been a success or not?
ALGON Chairman: Well, His Excellency, the Governor of Taraba State, Dr Agbu Kefas is a leader whom God has chosen to lead Taraba State. We are more than proud, we are happy to God for giving His Excellency to be the State Governor. If we want to talk in details about the score card of His Excellency, it will take us the whole day because we have never gotten it so well and so good since the creation of Taraba State till now that we have Dr Agbu Kefas as the Captain of the ship leading Taraba State. As the ALGON Chairman, together with my colleagues, I want to inform you that we have unanimously endorsed His Excellency as the Best Governor of the Year, not only in the state but in the whole of the country because of so many reasons which ranged from his Five Finger Agenda which include Education, Agriculture, Infrastructure, Social Development and Security and I want to believe that Taraba State has never gotten it so well more than now that His Excellency is saddled with the responsibilities of being the Governor of the state. And indeed, the good people of the state are more than proud and grateful to God Almighty and we will continue to cherish that because I know that if in one year he is able to record these achievements in one year, he will double these come next year. And these achievements are so recorded because of the passion, zeal, determination, commitment and above all, the fear of God in the way and manner he is driving the ship of leadership of Taraba State. We are more than proud of him. That is why we are always saying that His Excellency is a research subject that anyone who is into research should meet His Excellency and he will get all he wants for his research work.
Echo Express: Can you be specific by enumerating some of the activities he has carried out under these Five Finger Agenda mentioned above?
ALGON Chairman: Some of the achievements he has recorded that have gone a long way to benefit most of the households are as follows:
In the area of Education, he has provided free education to primary schools, free education to secondary schools and above all, 50% discount to tertiary institutions. Apart from that, His Excellency has graciously remodeled the Presidential Lodge located in Jalingo, the Taraba State House of Assembly, the famous ALGON House, Jalingo which is now of international standard. Look at the Jolly Nyame market which was abandoned many years ago is now remodeled to an international market and is now going to serve the people. Not only in Jalingo but across the state . Go to the State University, you will see a lot of construction work going on, lecture theatres, female hostels and so on. His Excellency has done so well, looking at the fact that he is just one year, though one year is not good enough for us to judge a leader but he has done so well and we would be seeing more of these developmental strides by God’s grace.
Echo Express: Are you speaking the minds of all the Local Government Chairmen in the state?
ALGON Chairman: Oh yes. I am the ALGON Chairman in the state. I am their leader, you can go and meet anyone of them, they would tell you even more than what I am saying. We are working with him and we know all that he is doing. Most of his developmental strides are not only done in Jalingo but they are community based across all the Local Government Areas of the state.
Echo Express: Seeing all that His Excellency has done within a short period of one year in office, what message do you have for Taraba?
ALGON Chairman: Well, fundamentally, it is said that to whom much is given, much is expected. What he is giving to us as a people, a state and Local Governments, what is expected of us is to give him the maximum support so that he can give us more development. We should continue to leave in peace, love one another and above all, we should rally round the government by being prayerful for one another, to the state, to the government and to His Excellency as a person and making sure that we sustain whatever gains that are being provided by His Excellency as dividends of democracy. We should continue to protect it because it is meant for us.
Echo Express: Can you use this medium for a message of encouragement to His Excellency?
ALGON Chairman: Well, to His Excellency, I say thank you Your Excellency. Thank you Your Excellency. Thank you once more Your Excellency and thank you Your Excellency. With what His Excellency has done in one year, we believe that next year, he will do more and I want to believe that definitely Taraba State would be among the comity of states in Nigeria that many people would be proud of. We are very grateful to God for giving us His Excellency as our Governor and we are looking forward for multiple developmental strides of His Excellency in the coming year.
