Taraba Sports Dev Commission Holds First Inaugural Meeting, Swears in Association Chairmen

The Taraba State Sports Development Commission has held its first inaugural meeting, marking the formal take-off of organized sports administration in the state.
Speaking at the event, the Executive Secretary of the Commission, Mr George Shita, described the meeting as historic, noting that board members attended at their own expense as a sign of commitment.
He said the process of constituting the various sports associations was challenging but expressed confidence that the commission would achieve its mandate.
He affirmed that the commission has come to stay and commended key stakeholders, and other members for their contributions toward advancing sports development in Taraba State.
In his vote of thanks, Hon. Jonah A. Shamaki, speaking on behalf of the association chairmen, thanked the commission for the confidence reposed in them.
He pledged that the chairmen would uphold their responsibilities, noting that they had taken an oath of allegiance and were committed to supporting sports growth in the state.
Hon. Shamaki also appreciated commission members who travelled from across the state to attend the inaugural meeting and swearing-in ceremony.
Also speaking, the Chairman of the Commission, Coach Bulus Hussaini said his priority, following the establishment of the commission, is to appoint competent individuals to manage the various sports.
He explained that while the commission would provide supervision, the association chairmen would oversee day-to-day activities due to their closeness to athletes and coaches.
He emphasized the need for dedication and adequate funding in sports administration, congratulated the newly inaugurated chairmen, and urged them to remain committed to developing sports in Taraba State.
