Taraba: Resist laziness, idleness – Kefas’ S.A., Obi urges youths

The Special Adviser (S.A.) to Governor Agbu Kefas of Taraba State on Building Materials, Chief Uche Obi has called on young men and women across the State to engage themselves with one venture or the other as year 2026 unfolds.

Obi, a successful businessman based in Jalingo the State capital, advised that youths should be up and doing to earn a living.
Stressing that they should reject every activities of laziness and idleness, Obi noted that an idle mind is the devil’s workshop.
Chief Obi who said he has seen a better Nigeria, better service delivery and a better life for the good people of the country in the new year 2026, spoke exclusively with our Correspondent in Jalingo, the State capital.
Commenting on the adage which says, ‘My tomorrow will be better than today’, Chief Obi emphasized that, that particular adage means a lot, adding that it depends on a particular individual.
‘My tomorrow will be better than today’ is a very good wish for an individual but it will work out for that person if he or she believes.
“It depends on how you plan for yourself. If you plan well for yourself, your tomorrow will definitely be better than your today. If you want year 2026 to be better than year 2025, you have to sit down, re-examine your life, have a cross examination and a rethink on how you lived in the year 2025 and make amends”,
“You have to learn from the mistakes you made in 2025. If there’s anywhere you know you didn’t do well in 2025, you have to make amends. If you know that you didn’t work hard in 2025, you have to work hard in 2026 so that your tomorrow will be better and greater than today”,
“For your tomorrow to be better than today, it all depends on you, you have to work it out. A situation whereby you fold your hands in your comfort home, expecting manna to come from heaven, your tomorrow will never be better than today’. It worries me that a youth of 20, 25 and 30 years is still depending on his /her parents and is not doing anything and you want your tomorrow be better than today? It can’t work”,
“If you wake up in the morning, your next target is to look for a drinking joint where you will be entertaining people with gists and you think your tomorrow will be better than today, it doesn’t work that way. You cannot go out there to look for what to do to help yourself and family. It’s in this country that you will see a grown up person, waking up in the morning, folding his hands. Can’t you go and look for something to do, even lebra work, pushing of wheel barrow, selling of recharge cards, start doing something, no matter how small, that little thing will definitely grow if you really want it to grow. Engage yourself with something. Learn a trade, handwork and a very short while you will be free and become your own master”,
“Engage yourself with one thing or the other. You are waiting for white collar job from government. Ok wait for government to bath and wear you cloth, wait for government to carry food and put in your mouth. Government is me and you, and then what are you doing to make the government function well? You are not doing anything rather, you want to become a liability to the govt”,
“When you are not doing anything, you have not engaged yourself with anything, you will be a liability to the government. This is because, you are not doing anything in order to help the society. So, if you are still having this mentality, you better wake up because life is not waiting for anybody. Year 2025, you were 20 years old and in 2026, one more year will be added to your age, you can see that you are moving forward and not backwards by age, from being a baby to an adult. If you engage yourself with something, that is legal, clean business, God will locate you, notable personalities in the society will identify you and that will draw the attention of government and you will be helped.”,

“This 2026, I strongly believe that it will be far better than 2025, 2026 will be a great year for the children of God”, he added.
