Taraba Politics: Group Launches Network for Kefas’ Continuity

A youth group under the auspices of Democratic Rights Organization (DRO) has launched a Network for Taraba State Governor, Dr. Agbu Kefas’ continuity of good governance for the people of the State.
Speaking at a ceremony held Monday in Jalingo the State capital, the network coordinator of the democratic organization, Hon. Abubakar Maina said the organization was established to support Governor Kefas, in his continued achievements for the state.
Maina mentioned that the network will coordinate the entire people of Taraba State to ensure everyone collaborates in supporting the Governor’s good governance.
“The network for Dr. Agbu Kefas’ continuity of good governance is a democratic rights organization whose prime objective is to promote peace and good governance in Taraba State”, he said.
Summarizing the developmental strides of Governor Kefas for the past one year, the former State Chairman, Nigeria Union of Pensioners (NUP), Comrade Hassan Abubakar said Governor Kefas has done very well describing it the reason why Stakeholders from Jalingo local government came out en-masse to appreciate him.
Abubakar, who described Kefas as a listening leader with the fear of God, added that he is committed to human development of the State.
He noted that Governor Kefas has brought political stability to the State through giving appointments across board void of tribal inclinations.
“He’s a Jukun man from Wukari but his Chief of Staff is a Wurkum man from Karim Lamido Local Government Area of the State”,
“There has been regular and prompt payment of salaries of civil servants in the State, payment of gratuities for our Pensioners across the State”, he added.
Other achievements as enumerated by Hon. Abubakar were; transformation of Danbaba Danfulani Suntai Airport to an international standard, saying such will help woo investors and tourists to the State.
“Declaration of free Education policy in the State where children of the poor are now enrolled in various primary and secondary schools, school fees of students of tertiary institutions of the State have been slashed to fifty percent. Our traditional institutions got approval for medical checkups and treatments at health facilities of their choice. These are some of the kind gestures of Governor Kefas within the period under review’, he said.
Hon. Abubakar further called on the governor to constitute a monitoring and evaluation Committee who according to him will be supervising all government policies and programmes including supervision of political appointees to ascertain their performances.
“Any one that does not perform well should be shown the way out”, he added.
While seeking the consent of the governor to create job opportunities for the unemployed youths and women across the State, Abubakar stressed the need for him to tour all the local government areas. “As he arrives various Council areas, let the governor have town hall meetings with the people to have first class information of their problems and fashion ways to proffer solutions.
“I want him to encourage our local Contractors by awarding contracts to our indigenous and qualified contractors”,
He should connect Jalingo to Kashimbilla power electricity Dam to eradicate the problem of power outage in the State capital and there is no water in Jalingo, he should do something about it”, he said.
He however, congratulated the organizers and advised them to make sure that the Programme extends to other local governments of the State.
In an interview shortly, the Chairman of the organization, Alh. Umar Allahsure said the Programme was aimed at appreciating Governor Kefas’ policies in the State.
As he called on the people of the State to support the Governor to succeed, he pledged to extend the Network to all nooks and crannies of the State.
