Taraba Police Command Gets New Commissioner

Mr Ukachi P. Opara has assumed duty as the 29th Commissioner of Police, Taraba State Police Command.

This is contained in a Press Release signed by the Police Public Relations Officer of the Command, Superintendent of Police, Abdullahi Usman made available to Journalists in Jalingo, the Taraba State Capital.

The release said the new
Commissioner of Police hails from Uzoagba town, Ikeduru Local Government Area of Imo State.

CP Opara who is a graduate of Abia State University Uturu, obtained his Bachelor of Law degree (LLB) and Barrister at Law (BL)from Nigerian Law school, Lagos and Master degree in Law(LLM), University of Jos.

He was appointed Cadet assistant Superintendent of Police on the 15th of August,1996

CP Ukachi P. Opara has served in multiple units and departments in the force ,these include the following;

– Personal Assistant to Inspector General of Police.

– Police liaison desk officer to Honourable Chairman, Police service commission, Abuja.

– Officer in charge of Legal, state CID Gombe state.

– Area crime Officer, Kubwa Area Command ,FCT

– Area Commander Aba, Abia State

– Area Commander Uyo, Akwa Ibom State.

– Senior Deputy defence Adviser, permanent mission of Nigeria to the UN, New York, USA.

– Deputy Commissioner of Police incharge of Legal studies, Polac, wudil, Kano state.

– Deputy commissioner of police Department of finance and Administration, Imo State Command

– Deputy Force Secretary, Police Force Headquarters, Abuja.

– Commissioner of Police, Cross River State Police Command.

The New Commissioner of Police attended various professional courses both home and abroad, including Strategic leadership and Command course, Staff College, Jos, Peace keeping support Operations Development Course: Kofi Anan, Ghana and Gender equality course University of Pretoria South Africa.

Others were the United Nations Police Officers Course, Norway, International police Advisory council, Stockholm, Sweden, Doctrine Development Group Course, Vicenza, Italy, Strategic planning for security and development,Cranfield University, Management course of the Administrative staff College of Nigeria Topo Badagry, Basic Crime scene management and forensic course and Nigeria Police Academy Wudil, Kano state.

The CP is a member of the Nigerian Bar Association (NBA) and International Association of Chiefs of Police.

The Press Release quoted the New CP as assuring Tarabans that the Command under his stewardship will remain resolute in tackling all forms of crimes toward boosting public safety and security in the state.

His hobbies include Reading, Travelling and Helping people.

He is happily married with children.
