Taraba Peace Bureau Gears Up For 2026, Receives Commendation From Gov Kefas

The Taraba State Bureau for Peace and Conflict Management, has positioned itself as it welcomes 2026 to represent a rare opportunity to rise with strength and dedication in the pursuit of its mandate of achieving a united, peaceful and secure Taraba State.
In this regard, the Bureau has made a commitment to strengthen its resolve to attain its peace-building goals, expand the scope of interventions, to deliver promptly, increase results, and make significant impact in line with its mandate that will positively affect the lives and aspirations of the people of Taraba State.
In 2026, the Bureau will mark its 1st year of existence as a conflict prevention, peace building and conflict management institution.
According to Bishop Innocent Rubiruka Solomon, Chairman of the Bureau, the year ahead therefore presents a rare opportunity for the Agency to be deliberate, committed and to strengthen institutional structures, systems and processes, enhancing coordination and upgrading operational capacity to deliver more effective and impactful peacebuilding outcomes.
“We will strengthen our knowledge management frameworks so that we can effectively share more positive experiences and learnings with partners within and outside the State.
“We are committed to thorough community engagement through improved coordination, stronger partnerships, evidence-based programming and more responsive peacebuilding interventions. This is about collaborating in doing peacebuilding that will guaranteed better, smarter and more sustainable results and impact.
“The days and months ahead offer an opportunity for us to consolidate gains, deepen trust with communities and stakeholders, and scale up the quality of peacebuilding interventions across Taraba State.
“The Bureau remains firmly committed to professionalism, accountability and result-driven actions in advancing its mandate as we keep working towards a united, peaceful, secure and all inclusive Taraba state in harmony with the rest of the world”.
In line her 5-Year Strategy; Sensitization, peace education, advocacy and enlightenment campaigns are to be carried in all the 16 LGAs and 2 Development Areas of Taraba State within the first quarter of 2026;
Establishment of EWER mechanism at ward and LG Headquarters for reporting conflict situations early and promptly.
To this end, the Bureau has therefore released the itinerary for its sensitization visits to Gassol, Wukari and Ibi Local Government Areas schedule to hold between the 16th and 20th of February 2026.

In the meantime, the Taraba State Governor, Dr Agbu Kefas says he is impressed with the programme of action outlined by the Taraba State Bureau for Peace and Conflict Management for the peaceful co-existence of the state.
The commendation which is contained in a letter addressed to the Chairman of the Bureau and signed by Abdulkadir A. Haruna, Permanent Secretary, General Services on behalf of the Secretary to the Government of Taraba State, stressed that the Governor has expressed commendation at the strategy and efforts outlined by the Bureau.
