Taraba Peace Bureau Commences Sensitization Visits To LGAs, As Council Chairmen Commend Gov Kefas For Setting Up the Bureau

The Chairman of the Taraba State Bureau for Peace and Conflict Management, Bishop (Dr) Innocent Rubiruka Solomon, is leading a team on a peace sensitization tour to Gassol, Wukari, and Ibi LGAs of Taraba State.

The tour aims to promote peace, stability, and development in the region and Taraba state in general.

During a courtesy call at Gassol and Wukari LGAs, Bishop Solomon appealed to the Executive Chairmen of Gassol and Wukari LGAs to set up of peace committees to strengthen peacebuilding and dialogue in the LGAs.

He also met with religious leaders CAN and Muslim Councils, urging them to uphold the virtues, principles and tenets of Christianity and Islam to guide their followers towards peace, prosperity, security and development.

The Bureau’s efforts are part of a peace initiatives to address conflicts, strengthen dialogue and promote peaceful coexistence in Taraba State.

The Bureau Chairman added that recently, the state launched a 5-year strategic plan and the fact sheet to curb conflicts and promote social harmony in Taraba State.

In their several responses, the Gassol council Chairman Alhaji Adamu Idris said that they will collaborate with the Taraba State Bureau for Peace and Conflict Management to constitute the peace committee and strengthen its capacity to make it functional in Gassol local government.


Similarly, the Chairman of wukari Local Government Council Hon Dr. Bala Hussaini Aji appreciated the Bureau Chairman and members for the courtesy call and applaud Governor Agbu Kefas for creating the Bureau for Peace in the state and for selecting competent experienced, competent and qualified persons to run the institution.

The who noted that the Bureau is in safe hands, stressed that peace is an essential asset, pledging his support for the Bureau to succeed.


Similarly, the Chairman Muslim Council Wukari local government area, Alhaji Jafaru Danbaba said the Muslim community in wukari respect, value and appreciate anything that is for Peace, commending the Bureau Chairman and all the members for their selfless service.

While pledging their readiness to collaborate with the Bureau, he prayed for sustainability of the Bureau to achieve the desired peace and unity.

The CAN Coordinator of wukari local government area, Rev Ezra N. Babale also applauded the Governor of Taraba State for the creation of the Bureau and entrusting it into capable hands to pilot the affairs of peace and conflict management in the state.

The CAN Coordinator Rev Ezra N Babale added that the Christian community in wukari will collaborate with the Bureau to achieve a maximum success and impact.
