TARABA PEACE BUREAU, CAN FORGE PARTNERSHIP FOR PEACE & CONFLICT MANAGEMENT

In a time marked by social divisions and challenges across Nigeria, Dr. Agbu Kefas, the Governor of Taraba State, established the Taraba State Bureau for Peace and Conflict Management TSBPCM to liaise with religious and other institutions in curbing Conflicts in the state.
As part of fulfilling its mandate, the officials of the Taraba State Bureau for Peace and Conflict Management (TSBPCM) on Wednesday 6th August 2025, visited the Christian Association of Nigeria (CAN), Taraba Chapter, to strengthen partnership, collaboration and joint efforts for Peace in Taraba State.
The Bureau led by the Chairman Bishop Innocent Solomon visited Christian Association of Nigeria (CAN), Jalingo Chapter with its Chairman, Rev. Fr. Dr. Awoshiri Williams, in a solidarity and seeking collaboration to institute Peace within the state.
This is seen as a bold and commendable step forward in promoting peace and unity throughout Taraba State.
Speaking during a courtesy visit to the CAN leadership in Taraba State, the Chairman of the Taraba State Bureau for Peace and Conflict Management, Bishop Innocent Rubiruka Solomon said they were at the CAN office to congratulate the New CAN Leadership and to forge partnership for collaborative peace building in the state.
He praised God for giving CAN a leader who is both a revered Reverend Father and an academician with an immense tract record of service and experience in the body of Christ and society.
He said Governor Agbu Kefas’ passion and vision for peace was behind his bold step for creating the Bureau to provide a strategic and institutional framework for tackling conflicts in the state.
The CAN Chairman, Very Rev. Father Dr Williams Peter Awoshiri in his response, said peace was at the centre of Jesus’s message both during His earthly ministry and post resurrection ministry.
He has often declared “PEACE BE UNTO YOU” to indicate how critical the message of peace is. “Blessed are the peacemakers”.
The CAN Chairman stressed that CAN is a peace building institution and will remain committed to this objective. That as a body that values peace, it will always be natural to partner with peace building organizations to promote social cohesion, harmony and progress.
He commended Governor Kefas Agbu for demonstrating foresight and courage in setting up the Taraba State Bureau For Peace And Conflict Management
