Taraba Organizes School Competition Ahead of NILDS National Quiz

Taraba State government on Thursday hosted a school competition in preparation for the upcoming Northeast zonal National Institute for Legislative and Democratic Studies (NILDS) National Quiz Competition.
Speaking during the competition in Jalingo, Governor Agbu Kefas of Taraba state said that the aims was to promote knowledge and understanding of legislative and democratic governance among young Nigerians.
Represented by Dr. Augustina Godwin, State Commissioner, Ministry for Basic and Secondary Education, Kefas appreciated students from Taraba State as they showcase their skills and knowledge.
“The main essence of Education, which my administration has graciously made free and compulsory in the State, is to prepare our children for every possible challenge ahead of their lives.”
Kefas noted that Taraba State team has participated in the competition four times, with its team emerging winners of the North East Zone in the previous edition and coming 4th in the national competition.
He expressed gratitude to NILDS for introducing the art of law-making and governance to schools, aligning with the state’s vision for education.
“We want to appreciate the National Institute for Legislative and Democratic Studies NILDS for conceiving this noble idea that the art of law making and governance be introduced to our schools at this level,” he said.
He further appreciated Hajiya Hauwa Sadiq Pate for her dedication to promoting the interests and image of Taraba State.
Also speaking at the event, Hajiya Hauwa Sadiq Pate, Taraba state coordinator of NILDS, urged all competing students and their teachers to abide by the rules of the game to achieve the desired objectives of the competition.
She noted that Taraba State team is determined to do even better this year, and with their enthusiasm and dedication, they are expected to make a strong impression in the competition.
According to her, the event was a testament to the state’s commitment to education and good governance, and it is expected to have a positive impact on the participants and the community at large.
Correspondent reports that, Federal Technical College Jalingo emerged as the top school in the competition, scoring 60 points, while Best Helena Heritage School Jalingo and Excel Model School Wukari followed closely, scoring 50 and 40 points respectively.
Responding, students from the Federal Technical College who emerged winners of the competition, Esom Treasure, and Aondosoo Michael said they are thrilled to emerged as the top school to represent the State in the competition
“This achievement is a testament to our hard work and dedication to understanding legislative and democratic governance.” They said.
