Taraba NUT Announces Death of its Former Secretary, Simon Shimpu

The Taraba State Wing of the Nigeria Union of Teachers, NUT has announced the sudden death of a one time State Secretary of the Union and former Speaker of the Taraba State House of Assembly, Rt Hon Simon Shimpu.

This is contained in a Press Release signed by the Taraba State Chairman of the Union, Comrade Nathan Solomon and made available to Echo Express in Jalingo, the Taraba State capital on Tuesday.
“It is with deep sorrow that the Nigeria Union of Teachers (NUT), Taraba State Wing, announces the passing of Rt. Hon. Simon Shimpu, former Speaker of the Taraba State House of Assembly and esteemed former Secretary of our union”.
The Union described his demise is a profound loss to the educational community and the entire state.
“Rt. Hon. Simon Shimpu dedicated his life to public service and the advancement of education in Taraba State.
“As Secretary of the NUT, he championed the rights and welfare of teachers, advocating tirelessly for improved working conditions and quality education.
“His tenure was marked by significant strides in elevating the teaching profession within the state”.
According to Comrade Nathan Solomon, his leadership extended beyond the union, culminating in his role as Speaker of the Taraba State House of Assembly, where he continued to serve with integrity and commitment to the development of our state.
“The NUT, Taraba State Wing, extends heartfelt condolences to the state government, the people of Taraba State, and the family of Rt. Hon. Simon Shimpu. We share in your grief and pray for strength and comfort during this difficult time”.
In honor of his legacy, the Union called upon all educators and citizens to reflect on his contributions and uphold the values he stood for.
“May his soul rest in perfect peace”.
