Taraba NUJ Correspondents applaud Kefas for appointing members as Aides
OKERAFOR ATHANATIUS, JALINGO
Taraba State Governor Dr. Agbu Kefas has appointed two members of the Correspondents’ Chapel of the Nigeria Union of Journalists (NUJ) as Aides in his administration.
The officials and members of the Chapel have therefore applauded the sportsmanship of the Governor describing it as an honour bestowed upon them to serve in his government.
Members further noted that the gesture marks the first time such recognition was extended to the Correspondents’ Chapel of the Union in the State.
This was contained in a Press Release signed and issued to Journalists this Thursday in Jalingo by the Chapel Chairman, Gabriel Yough of the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN).

Those appointed as stated in the Release were; Mrs. Janet Audu of Daily Independent Newspapers and Mr. Justin Tyopuusu of The PUNCH newspapers.
Expressing their heartfelt appreciation further to Dr. Kefas, Chapel members said the Governor has set a precedent for his counterparts across the country to emulate.

“We believe the Governor’s decision to include practicing journalists in his cabinet echoes the high regard he has for the Press and the capacity of journalists to ensure the government delivers on its promises to the people”,
“We are confident that the two journalists will bring their vast experience to bear on Governor Kefas’ youth-driven administration in the best interests of Tarabans, who voted him into office”,
“As journalists and partners to the government, we will continue to discharge our duties professionally as watchdogs, while also projecting the government and its policies to the outside world in a positive light where necessary”, it stated.
Our correspondent gathered that two members of the chapel above stated made it to the Governor’s second batch of 61 appointees as Aides.
