Taraba NUJ Condoles With Secretary Over Death of Father

The Taraba State Council of the Nigeria Union of Journalists NUJ, has commiserated with the Secretary of the council, Comr. Apollos Dennis Gilenya over the demise of his father, Rev Dennis Gilenya Zing who Passed to glory on Saturday, 4th May 2024.

 

Speaking on behalf of journalists in the state, the Chairman, Comrade Matthew Eliud Jen who led officials of the council to the deceased’s residence for a condolence visit, expressed concern over the unfortunate incident and encouraged the family to take solace in God Almighty.

“We received the news of Daddy’s death with rude shock. We were aware that he was sick but little did we know that his demise would be so sudden. We thought it was just the issue of old age challenges and baba would regain his health and dine with us only to come and hear that he had gone.

 

“This is indeed sad. We feel the pains and our thoughts are with you. We want to encourage the family members and all relatives to take solace in the fact that, the late Reverend had done excellently well and had left a lot of legacies that he would everly be remembered”.

 

Responding on behalf of the family, Mr James Umar, appreciated members of NUJ, Taraba State Council for leaving their duties to come and commiserate with them at their difficult moment.

He encouraged the leadership of the council to keep up the spirit, adding that the family was grieved over the sad incident but was consoled with a single fact that late Rev Dennis Gilenya left good legacies that would stand the test of time.

 

Until his demise, Rev Dennis Gilenya Zing was a retired Minister of the Southern Conference of United Methodist Church. He served in different capacities including, District Superintendent of zing District, Yorro East and Jalingo among others.

He was a principal at Didango Bible School as well as principal Kakulu Bible institute.

The deceased left behind 7 children, 22 grand children and two great grandchildren.

 

Born in 1939, late Rev Dennis Galenya died at the age of 85 after a protracted illness at the Federal Medical Center, FMC Jalingo.

 

The funeral arrangements as signed by the Chairman, Ordained Ministry, Southern Conference of United Methodist Church, indicates that there will be christian wake-keep on Thursday, 9th May, 2024 at UMC No1 Zing, by 3:30pm.

The will Corpse leave FMC Jalingo on Friday, 10th May, 2024 by 6:30am for Zing while the final internment will be at the family compound, Angwan Mission, Zing Local Government Area of Taraba State on same Friday, 10th May, 2024.
