Taraba NUJ Boss Charges Women to be Peace Ambassadors

The Chairman, Nigeria Union of Journalists NUJ, Comrade Mathew Eliud Jen, has charged women in Taraba State to be peace ambassadors of Taraba State to ensure sustainable peace in the state
The Taraba NUJ boss gave the charge while receiving women under the agis of Unity Women Multipurpose Society (UWMS) NTA ward, Jalingo Local Government Area of Taraba State who paid him a courtesy call at the Press Centre, Jalingo.
Comrade Eliud Jen who commended the women for their laudable initiatives, noted that, Governor Kefas is a lover of peace who had worked tirelessly within one year of his administration to stabilize and sustain peace in the state and there was every reason to support him to continue with the purposeful leadership.
“I am earnestly happy with your good initiatives. I want to tell you that our Governor, His Excellency Dr Agbu Kefas is a lover of peace. Part of the good things he is doing is to ensure that there is perfect peaceful coexistence in the state. Your organization also aimed at achieving this peaceful coexistence, so I believe the Governor will surely want to be identified with you.
“You can see that already, the Governor has made superb landmarks in the areas of education, insecurity and Agriculture.
He has also ensured women inclusiveness in governance in his first year in office, giving women a new lease of life by way of appointments into relevant offices.
“I want to encourage you to support the Governor in your own little way by working on your children to give peace a chance always. I also want to encourage you to work hard and expand this association so that we will have its branches all over the state”, he added.
The Chairman applauded the association for championing the course of promoting peace among women in the state and reawakening others not to shy away from proper upbringing of the children, assuring them that journalists in the state would work collaboratively with them to see that their activities were disseminated to achieve the desired goals.
Earlier, the Chairperson of the UWMS, NTA ward Jalingo LGA, Madam Hadiyona Tanko Kasari, said they were at the Press Center to identify with journalists and to seek partnership with them in carrying out their activities in the state.
Madam Hadiyona lauded journalists in the state for working hard to disseminate reliable stories across the state and beyond and urged them to connect them and their activities with the government of the state so that their desired goals would easily be achieved.
She also commended the Governor of Taraba State, Dr Agbu Kefas for doing so much within his one year in office, pointing out that the Governor had within the shortest time, pulled the state back from the precipice that it was almost falling.
The chairperson appealed to Taraba State Government to organize workshops for them and to always include them in the scheme of things in the state, so as to enhance their operations.
Also in their separate speeches at the event, the Treasurer and the Auditor, NUJ, Taraba State Council, Mrs Hilda Adebayo and Victoria Roland, all advised women to ensure they monitor the movements of their children as well as report cases of rape to Law Enforcement Agencies, so that perpetrators of such evil acts would be brought to book.
