Taraba: NNPP refutes claims of members’ defection to APC, PDP

The leadership of the Taraba State chapter of the New Nigeria People’s Party (NNPP) has refuted claims making the rounds that the party’s critical stakeholders and members have defected to the All Progressive Congress (APC) and the People’s Democratic Party (PDP).

Abdullahi Ade who refuted the claims while briefing newsmen in Jalingo disclosed equivocally that the Party in the State still remains an independent political party as registered by the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC).
He said the party chairmen of the 16 Local Government Areas, critical stakeholders of the party were present at the just concluded State Working Committee meeting.
“I called you journalists, to let the entire people of the State know that we are not part of the political parties or members of other parties that have defected to APC, PDP or any other political party”,
“We, the NNPP in Taraba State didn’t defect to any party like APC or PDP. We are trying to form a coalition with the African Democratic Congress (ADC) and the agreement of coalition between the two of parties is still on going”, he said.
He however, called on NNPP members and supporters in the State to remain calm, resolute, saying they have a leader that is caring, Prof. Muhammed Sani Yahaya.
Alhaji Ade further reaffirmed the State party’s loyalty of Prof Yahaya whose vision for party members, supporters and people of the State he stressed, should not be compromised.
“Our loyalty to Professor Yahaya is unshakable”, he said.
Our Correspondent reports that Mohammed Sani Yahaya was NNPP’s Governorship candidate during 2023 general elections.
“The 16 local government party chairmen of NNPP who were present at the SWC meeting were; Hon. Audu Rabilu from Karim Lamido, Hon. Sheba James from Zing, Hon. Mohamud Imam from Gassol,Hon. Audu Jibril Amanki from Ussa, among others.
