Taraba Muslim Women Preachers Hold Historic Summit, Laud Gov Kefas

In a significant show of unity and civic engagement, Muslim women preachers from across Taraba State gathered in Jalingo for a one-day summit aimed at acknowledging and celebrating the inclusive governance style of the Taraba State Governor, Dr Agbu Kefas.
The event, organized by the Special Adviser to the Governor on Muslim Religious Matters, Hussaini Ismail, brought together prominent female Islamic scholars under the banner of the Forum of Women Islamic Preachers.
Held at the NUT Hall in Jalingo, the summit drew participants from all 16 local government areas of the state.
Representing Governor Kefas, the Special Adviser, Hussaini Ismail, praised the female preachers for their pivotal roles in promoting spiritual values and contributing to societal development.
He noted that Muslim women play critical roles in the emergence of credible leadership in the state.
Governor Kefas, through his representative, reiterated his commitment to inclusive governance that embraces both major faiths in the state.
He highlighted key achievements of the administration, including the allocation of Hajj seats for Muslim pilgrims, sustained support for Islamic clerics, reduction of tuition in tertiary institutions and the implementation of free education at the primary and secondary school levels among others.
“Our government believes in fairness, inclusiveness, and spiritual balance. That’s why both faiths are fully carried along, especially during festive periods,” the governor affirmed.
Also speaking at the event, the Chairperson of the Federation of Muslim Women Association of Nigeria (FOMWAN), Taraba State Chapter, Hajiya Aisha Tukur, commended the initiative and appreciated the Governor’s open-door policy.
She urged Muslim women to take education seriously by ensuring their children attend school, praying for continued peace and development in Taraba State.
Delivering sermons at the summit, Hafsat Sa’ad and Juwairiyya Hassan, emphasized the importance of unity among Muslim women and the need to uphold Islamic virtues.
Juwairiyya Hassan particularly praised Governor Kefas for prioritizing development and inclusion, describing the summit as the first of its kind in Taraba’s history.
She reminded attendees that leadership is divinely ordained and encouraged clerics and women alike to work towards the unity and progress of the state.
She also urged Muslim women to avoid immoral behaviors and always act in accordance with the teachings of Islam.
The summit ended with heartfelt prayers for the success of Governor Kefas and the continued growth and prosperity of Taraba State.
