TARABA: L-PRES INAUGURATES GRIEVANCE REDRESS COMMITTEE (GRC)

The Livesstock Productivity and Resilience Support Project, L-PRES, in Taraba State has inaugurated a Grievance Redness Committee, GRC at the project implementation level to handle matters arising in the course of implementing project activities .

The measure is to ensure that concerns of Project beneficiaries and key stakeholders in Taraba State are taken care of and complaints and suggestions duly addressed as well as ensure that grievances are heard and resolved in a fair and transparent manner.
The inauguration took place on Monday, 19th August, 2024, at the Taraba State Coordination Office, No 9, Suleman Zubairu Street, Off Jolly Nyame Way, Jalingo.
Inaugurating the committee, the State Project Coordinator, (SPC), Mr. Hananiah G. Albert tasked members of the committee to swing into action immediately and carry out their responsibilities without delay.
The SPC charged them to be frantically committed to the task ahead of them and to deliver on the mandate with maximum efficiency the project deserves to justify the confidence reposed in them.

He explained that it is the committee’s responsibility to set up a mechanism to receive, review and act on complaints or grievances raised by individuals or groups who may be adversely affected by the L-PRES Project’s activities and other Project’s related operations in State.
Mr. Albert further noted that it is their responsibility to provide a structured process for receiving, documenting, investigating and resolving complaints in a fair, timely, and efficient manner.
The SPC stressed that it is an important aspect of the Project’s management approach to promote transparency, accountability and trust between L-PRES and the stakeholders as well as the project beneficiaries.
The SPC was attending the L-PRES Project Implementation Progress Meeting at the the World Bank Country office in Abuja, was represented at the event by the Communication/ ICT Officer, Mr Artimas Ezra.
The State Project Coordinator, urged the Committee to establish and maintain collaborative lines of communication across all the project sites and communities throughout the project implementation years and to recommend measures that may prevent occurrence or reoccurrence of conflicts and grievances.
The Grievance Redress Committee members inaugurated, included: Social Safeguard Officer, Mrs. Fillah Simon Bodi, as the Chairman; Gender Based Violent Officer, Mrs. Rahab Machoko (member); Environmental Officer, Mr. John Nicodemus (member); Project Engineer, Engr. Adi Nwubu Atohinkon (member); Monitoring And Evaluation Officer, Mallam Usman Jika (member); Value Chain/Market Linkage Officer, Mr Mayindi Daniel (member) and the Communication/ICT Officer, Mr Ezra Artimas (Secretary).
The SPC revealed that the remaining committees, the GRC at the project sites/Community levels, and the GRC at the state Steering Committee level would be inaugurated as soon as possible.
