Taraba HSMB Executive Secretary Calls for Sustained Health Sector Reforms, Commends Health Workers’ Dedication

The Executive Secretary of the Taraba State Health Services Management Board (HSMB), Dr. Garba Danjuma, has called for sustained reforms and collective commitment to strengthening healthcare delivery in the state as the new year begins.

In a New Year message released on Wednesday, Dr. Danjuma expressed gratitude to God for the successful passage through 2025, describing the year as one that tested the resilience and dedication of health workers across the state.
He commended doctors, nurses, and other healthcare professionals in public health facilities for their unwavering commitment to duty despite operational challenges, noting that their sacrifices continue to sustain the health system.
“As we step into 2026, we must consolidate on the gains recorded so far and remain focused on building a responsive, efficient, and people-centered health system. Our health workers remain the backbone of service delivery, and their dedication deserves recognition and continuous support.”Dr. Danjuma said.
Dr. Danjuma also acknowledged the commitment of the Taraba State Government under the leadership of the Governor, Dr. Agbu Kefas, praising ongoing investments in health infrastructure, workforce development, and policy reforms aimed at improving access to quality healthcare.
He further appreciated the Commissioner for Health, Dr. Bordiya Gbansheya Buma, for his strategic guidance and commitment to advancing the state’s health agenda, recognizing the Chairman of the Health Services Management Board, Dr. Ebenezer K. Apake, and members of the Board for their oversight, policy direction, and continued support toward strengthening health service delivery.
According to him, the Health Services Management Board will, in the new year, intensify efforts to improve staff welfare, strengthen supervision and accountability, and enhance capacity-building across all levels of care.
He further called for stronger collaboration among health institutions, professional associations, and development partners to ensure sustainable progress in the sector.
Dr. Danjuma urged health workers to uphold professionalism, discipline, and ethical standards in the discharge of their duties, assuring them of the board’s commitment to creating a more enabling work environment.
He wished health workers and residents of Taraba State a peaceful and prosperous 2026, praying for good health, renewed strength, and greater achievements in the year ahead.
