Taraba Govt To Partner International Agencies For Speedy Development

The Taraba State Governor, Dr Agbu Kefas has expressed his determination to continue to partner with international agencies that will foster speedy development of the people of Taraba state.
The Governor who was represented by his Deputy, Alhaji Aminu Abdullahi Alkali stated this when he received the United Nations High Commission For Refugees, UNHCN, delegation at the conference hall of the Deputy Governor’s office in Jalingo.
The Taraba State Governor, Dr Agbu Kefas represented by the state Deputy Governor, Alh Aminu Abdullahi Alkali described the coming of the visitors to the state as a welcomed development, considering the influx of refugees into five local Government areas of the state.
He stressed that based on the support the state Government is giving to the refugees, the partnership will go along way in improving on the well-being of the refugees and those displaced and by extension, the host communities.
The Governor commended the United Nations High commission for Refugee for their mission to the state and asked for more support from the commission for the benefit of more communities.
The United Nations High Commission For Refugee, UNHCN, Delegation is led by the Commissioner for refugees, Mrs Airin Omondi incharge of sub state offices of the agency in Ogoja, Cross River covering Taraba, Benue and cross Rivers.
She said their visit was at the instance of the state Governor, Dr Agbu Kefas following various discussions with the Governor in Abuja.
The team is in Taraba State to further cement the relationship between the agency and the state Government to enable them carry out the core mandate of the commission in improving on the general welfare and well-being of refugees through agriculture, commerce and industry and other relevant areas.
She said Five local Government areas which includes Sardauna, Bali, Kurmi,Takum and Ussa Local Government Areas of Taraba State have already been mapped out by the commission as benefiting LGAS for now and called on the state Government to facilitate the registration of the said communities to afford them the opportunities to benefit from the gesture.
Oxygen ventilators were also presented to the state Government to help in boosting the health care sector of the State inline with the policy documents of the Governor of Taraba state, Dr Agbu Kefas.
The Taraba State Commissioner for Health, Dr Godiya Boma commended the United Nations High commission for Refugee, for the gesture and assured of the maximum benefit of the partnership and proper utilization of the oxygen ventilators tors for the benefit of the people.
