Taraba Govt Takes More Steps To Involve Youths in Governance

The Taraba State government has continued to demonstrate its commitment towards youth emancipation by providing a platform to chart a new course for their wellbeing.
The recent step taken by the government is through the office of the Senior Special Assistant on Youth Affairs, which organized a youth stakeholders interface to brainstorm on the youth can be actively in decision making especially it regards their issues.
The interface was held at the Jolly Nyame Stadium here in Jalingo the Taraba State capital.
Since the coming of the Dr Agbu Kefas led administration in 2023, the Governor has not hide his intention to give the youths the opportunity to contribute their quota in the act of governance thereby contributing to his agenda of development.
To further give credence to the commitment of the Governor, the Senior Special Assistant on Youth Affairs, Ambassador Emmanuel George convened an inclusive youths stakeholders meeting, irrespective of religious beliefs or political affiliation.
Speaking during the meeting, Ambassador Emmanuel George said the interface was to among others look at the positive contributions of the youths to the development of the state, possible areas to contribute to the success of the Agbu Kefas led administration as well as areas where the well being of the Youths can improved.

The SSA who enumerated the numerous achievements of Governor Agbu Kefas, saluted the youths for their perseverance and for creating an enabling environment for development to thrive.
According to Ambassador Emmanuel George, the rationale behind the meeting is to appreciate the fact that an opportunity has been provided to them by Dr Agbu Kefas and they must take full advantage of the Governor’s magnanimity.
The meeting also seeks to give the youths ideas on how to enable them break out of the shackles of poverty which has retarded their progress.
During the meeting, various speakers took turns to make suggestions and contributions on workable ways to tackle the numerous problems confronting the progress of the youths in the state
Some of the youths appreciated the Senior Special Assistant for coming up with such a laudable initiative which they said is timely.
They also lauded Governor Agbu Kefas for appointing Ambassador Emmanuel George, who according to them, is a seasoned grassroots mobilizer, promising to work closely with the SSA to fast track development and improve the wellbeing of youths in the state.
Observers believe that the Governor has clearly demonstrated his willingness by providing a platform for the youths and what is left now is for the privileged youths to show commitment and determination that they are ready for the task ahead by ensuring they carry all youths along irrespective of religious beliefs or political affiliation.
