Taraba Govt Strategizing For Commencement of Smart Classrooms

The Taraba State Government has started taking practical measures to ensure the commencement of Smart Classrooms across the state inline with the policy direction of Governor Agbu Kefas in the education sector.


To back up the policy with action, the Taraba State Commissioner for Basic and Secondary Education, Dr Augustina, recently visited the College of Education, Zing to access facilities for the establishment of Smart Classrooms in the College for the training of Teachers and students of Taraba State.

The Commissioner was in company of officials of the office of the Education Consultant to Taraba State Government, the April Benjamin and Dawn Communication Limited for facilities assessment to commence Smart School and hub for 21st Century Pedagogy of digital literacy and learning for students and teachers following the declaration of the College of Education Zing as centre of teachers training in Taraba State by Governor Agbu Kefas during the 35 sets combined convocation ceremony held on 9th November, 2024.

Echo Express findings showed that the innovation is necessary to provide the digital literacy skills to all teachers and subsequent expansion across the state.

The Smart School expected to deploy modern methods of education through ICTs by using various interactive modules like computers, tablets, interactive Smart boards, projectors, videos, cameras, multimedia and School Management Software solutions for the learning and management process.


The Smart School is provided with the minimum operational requirements for efficient and effective delivery such as; Physical infrastructures, Hardware, Furniture, Software, Smart Classrooms, Library/e-library, Computer laboratories and workshops”.

The school will provide teachers and learners access to a wide range of educational resources available on the internet and real time information sharing.

The team were received by the Provost, College of Education Zing, Prof. Ejika Sambo and his management team and later led the assessment process round the facilities.

The consultant was pleased with the facilities seen and sued for the unwavering support and cooperation of the college community in ensuring the success of the project.
