Taraba Govt Restates Commitment To the Fight Against Climate Change

The Taraba State Government says it is on top of the fight against climate change and other related factors responsible for environmental and ecosystem degradation in the state.
This was made known by the Taraba State Governor, Dr Agbu Kefas while flagging of a tree planting campaign at the Taraba State College Of Agriculture, Science and Technology Jalingo.
The flagging off of the tree planting campaign was in collaboration with the Fortune and Restoration Charity Foundation Taraba chapter.
Governor Agbu Kefas represented by the State Deputy Governor, Alhaji Aminu Abdullahi Alkali reiterated the state Government’s commitment in restoring the glory of the environment and the already destroyed Eco systems for better lives and as well improve on the condition of the people.
He charged all stakeholders to imbibe the spirit of tree planting for a healthy environment in line with the advanced countries of the world.
Having also described the college as a good implementor of the Taraba State Government’s policies on environmental initiatives, he assured that the Government will ensure that the name of the College is written not only in Taraba state but in the Nation at large.
The Permanent Secretary, Taraba State Ministry of Environment, Aminu Ayuba Kotolo who represented the Commissioner of the Ministry, said two million seedlings of trees will be planted across the state in line with the vision and mission of the Taraba state Governor, Dr Agbu Kefas towards greening Taraba State for the future benefits of the people.
He called on the people to renew their commitments towards nurturing the trees planted to grow in flamboyant manners for maximum benefit.
The Provost of the Taraba State College Of Agriculture, Science and Technology Jalingo, Dr Yakubu Garjila described trees as life wires of humans and other creatures on earth.
While acknowledging the contributions of the state Government to the school, he promised renewed vigour in improving on the successes recorded under the Administration of Governor Agbu Kefas.
The State Coordinator of the Fortune and Restoration Charity Foundation Taraba Chapter, Mr Charles Kadu, and the Special Adviser to Governor Agbu Kefas on Food Security, Hon Zanna Maikasuwa all said the tree planting project stands as a testament for the restoration of the environment and determines the brighter future of Taraba state.
