Taraba Govt Flags Off Distribution of Farm Implements To Farmers

The Taraba state Government has flagged off the distribution of farm implements to various communities in Taraba State.
The flagged off ceremony which took place at the premises of the TSTC in Jalingo was performed by the Taraba State Deputy Governor, Alhaji Aminu Abdullahi Alkali on behalf of Governor Agbu Kefas.
The move is part of the deliberate efforts of the Taraba state Government in collaboration with the North East Development Commission, NEDC to better the economy and uplift the living standards of the people of Taraba State particularly the peasant farmers through the use of technology to increase food sufficiency in the state.
The distribution was done to the qualified members of various Cooperative Societies across the 16 Local Government Areas of Taraba State.
The Taraba state Governor ,Dr Abu Kefas warned against the sales of the farming implements.
The Governor while congratulating the beneficiaries, for being successful to receive the equipment, also said it was meant to increase productivity and contribute to the economic prosperity of Taraba State.
The Taraba State Commissioner for Special Duties, Humanitarian and Regional development, Hon Savior Noku said the objectives of the Programme is to eradicate poverty through empowerment of farming communities with modern implements which will help in reviving farming and enhance the economic growth of the state.
The Taraba State Commissioner for Cooperative and Poverty Alleviation, Hon Habu James on his part, said the Programme will help many deserving communities in Taraba State as only authenticated Cooperative Farmers are qualified to benefit from the implements.
The North East Development Commission’s Coordinator in Taraba State, Engineer Bashir Hammanjoda Nguroje said the donation of the farm implements aims at boosting agricultural productivity for food security in Taraba state, north Eastern Nigeria and the country at large.
The representative of the beneficiaries, Dr Umar Bakari assured the Government of proper utilization of the farm implements.
