Taraba Govt Flags Off Disbursement of Micro, Small Enterprises Operational Grants

The Taraba State Government has flagged off the disbursement of Micro and Small Enterprises Operational Support Grants, amounting to four hundred and Forty Two million naira.

The flagged off ceremony was performed by the Taraba State Governor, Dr Agbu Kefas at the Camp View Event Center in Jalingo, the Taraba State capital.
Community Action for Resilience and Economic Stimulus known as TARABACARES, Micro and Small Enterprises, is a World Bank and the Federal Government of Nigeria assisted project in collaboration with the Taraba State Government.

 

The sum of Four hundred and forty-two million naira, N442,000,000 was processed for disbursement to Seven Thousand and Fifteen (7, 015 ) eligible beneficiaries drawn from across Taraba State.

They are to join the micro and small entrepreneurs across the globe in an effort to better the economy of the state and uplift their standards of the beneficiaries as well.

 

The Taraba state Governor ,Dr Abu Kefas, represented by the State Deputy Governor, Alhaji Aminu Abdullahi Alkali said thousands of youth and women will continue to benefit from the grants which is aimed at improving on the general welfare and well-being of the people.

The Governor while congratulating the beneficiaries for being successful for the grant, expressed the hope that the funds will be deployed for the intended purposes with a view to contributing to the economic prosperity of Taraba State.

The Taraba State Commissioner for Commerce, Trade and Industries, Hon Peter George in his speech, said the objective of the project is to eradicate poverty through empowerment of communities which will help in reviving the economy of the state.

On their part, the Taraba State Commissioner for Cooperative and Poverty Alleviation, Hon Habu James and the Chief of Staff Government House Administration, Dr Jaji William said the Programme will help many communities in Taraba state.

 

They commended the present administration of Governor Agbu kefas for its human capital development and called on the beneficiaries not to take the opportunity for granted as it will go along way in changing their lives for good.

The Taraba State Programme Coordinator, Polycarp Adi and the Head, State Cares Coordinating Unit,vMr Tijani Magaji Shark, said the flag off of the disbursement of the grants is aimed at empowering entrepreneurs, creating jobs, and stimulate economic growth which is in line with the Development Agenda of the administration of Dr Agbu Kefas.

Cheques were later presented to some of the beneficiaries as the Taraba cultural troupe entertained the gathering.

As guests congratulate the beneficiaries of the programme, they are reminded that the grant is designed to provide financial support, enabling beneficiaries to expand operations, improve productivity, create more jobs and overcome challenges.

Implementers of the programme are confident that initiatives like this will have a ripple effect, impacting not only their businesses but members of their families, employees, and beyond the broader communities of Nigeria.
