Taraba Gov Visits Namnai Collapsed Bridge

The Taraba State Government is to provide an alternative Fire Bridge known as military bridge on the Namnai-Jalingo-Wukari road bridge that was cut off as a result of the torrential rainfall being experienced in the area.
This was disclosed by Governor Agbu Kefas represented by the Taraba State, Deputy Governor, Alhaji Aminu Abdullahi Alkali when he inspected the collapsed Namnai bridge.
The collapsed bridge situated in Namnai village of Gassol Local Government area of Taraba state is amongst the Bridges that link the northern parts of Nigeria particularly the north east to the southern part of the country.
Following the torrential rainfall being experienced in the area, the bridge collapsed and completely washed away by the over flooded water, cutting vehicular movements completely from the north to the southern part.
For those who usually travel through the road, boat operators are on ground to cross passengers to the other side of the river.
This prompted the Taraba State Governor, Dr Agbu kefas,
represented by the Taraba state Deputy Governor, Alhaji Aminu Abdullahi Alkali and other government officials to the site for an on the spot inspection of the collapsed Namnai bridge.
Briefing newsmen shortly after the inspection, the Deputy Governor said that Taraba state Government Government in collaboration with the Federal Government will provide Fire bridge as an emergency measure for smaller vehicles while major construction of the bridge commence.
The Deputy Governor sympathized with those affected by the situation and expressed determination of the Taraba State Government under Dr Agbu Kefas led Administration to make things better, assuring that security will be deployed for adequate protection of lives and property around the area.
Federal controller of works,Yakubu Muhammed, and the Federal Road Maintenance Agency, FRMA, Engr, Marthins Ivah, briefed the Governor on the level of devastation and the immediate alternative intervention measures being planned for smaller vehicles while major construction commerce.
The Taraba State Commissioner for Works Luka Mose and the Chairman of Gassol Local Government Area, Abubakar Usman Saidu described the economic benefit of the road as enormous to the nation.
For now, motorists are to use the alternative Mutum Biyu- Garba Chede-Sunkani roads while those who choose to ply through the collapsed Namnai bridge will have to stop over and use the boat to cross and board a vehicle to proceed to their destinations.
