Taraba Gov Presents Staff Of Office To 2 Traditional Rulers

The Governor of Taraba State, Dr Agbu Kefas, has officially presented the Staff of Office to the 2 recently appointed Third Class Chiefs of Ando-Idi and Chanchanji.

The ceremonial presentation took place at the Executive Council Chamber, TY Danjuma House, Jalingo.

During the event, Governor Kefas handed over the staff of office to Manu Wunuken Emmanuel Masa Ibi, the Kun Cio of Ando-Idi, and Umaru Kumbyera, the Gara Chanchanji.

The Governor reiterated his administration’s commitment to strengthening traditional institutions and filling leadership gaps where necessary.

He emphasized that the selection of the new traditional rulers was a decision made by the people themselves, not imposed by the government.

Governor Kefas urged the traditional rulers to prioritize peace and ensure that criminal elements find no sanctuary in their domains.

He also cautioned against the indiscriminate issuance of traditional titles, stressing that such honors should be based on merit and a track records of service—not political considerations.

He vowed to revisit and possibly revoke titles that were not appropriately conferred.

He further charged the royal fathers to reside within their communities to enable them serve their people effectively.

The Chief Judge of Taraba State, Justice Filibus Joel Agya, administered the oaths of office and allegiance to the new traditional rulers.

Speaking on behalf of his colleague, the Chief of Ando-Idi, Manu Wunuken Emmanuel Masa Ibi, expressed profound gratitude to the Governor for the trust and confidence reposed in them.

He assured of their unwavering loyalty and pledged to work towards the peace and development of their respective domains and the state at large.

The ceremony was witnessed by members of the royal families, well-wishers, and dignitaries from across the state.
