Taraba Gov Pledges To Promote Peace Among Communities

Taraba State Government has expressed its commitment to promote peace building in Ussa and Takum communities and Taraba State as a whole for maximum development to thrive.
This commitment was expressed by the Governor, Dr Agbu Kefas when he received the National Patron of the Myetti Allah Cattle Breeders Association in Nigeria, Mallam Isa Yuguda in Jalingo.
The National Patron of the Myetti Allah Cattle Breeders Association in Nigeria, Mallam Isa Yuguda who visited Ussa Local Government Area in company of the Chairman and Members of the Peace and Reconciliation Committee for Kuteb and Fulani ethnic crisis in the state, under Rev Riase Shamaki were at the Deputy Governor’s office in Jalingo to brief the Government on their findings in Ussa local Government area concerning the mandate and responsibility of the Peace and Reconciliation Committee on the crisis between the Fulani pastoralists and the Kuteb.

The Taraba state Governor, Dr Abu Kefas represented by his Deputy, Alhaji Aminu Abdullahi Alkali while receiving the report of the committee said the Taraba state Government under Dr Agbu Kefas will do anything to continue to foster unity in diversity.
The Governor commended the National Patron of the Myetti Allah, Mallam Isa Yuguda for his concern in helping Taraba state in building sustainable peace and development for its citizens and promised to constitute a white paper implementation committee on all the recommendations of the committee.
Earlier, the National Patron of the Myetti Allah Cattle Breeders Association in Nigeria, Mallam Isa Yuguda who was a former Governor of Bauchi State, described Taraba state as a true nature’s gift to the nation with abundant natural resources all year round, which deserved to have a sustainable peace for the untapped resources to be harnessed by Government for the benefit of all.

He described the rampant influx of arms into the hands of the citizens as most unfortunate and uncalled for, calling for all hands to be on deck to disarm the citizens for lasting peace to be achieved.
Mallam Isa yuguda said the committee recommended that all those that fled their homes from both the kutebs and the indigenous Fulani in the area should return to their respective places of abode for a true peace and reconciliation process.
He commended the laudable inclusive policies of the Governor geared towards democratic dividends to the people of Taraba state.
