Taraba: Gov Kefas To Hold Traditional Rulers Accountable For Breakdown Of Law and Order

Traditional rulers in Taraba State will henceforth be held accountable for any further deliberate breakdown of law and order in the state.

This was the message of Governor Agbu Kefas delivered by the Taraba State Deputy Governor, Alhaji Aminu Abdullahi Alkali in Karim, the administrative headquarters of Karim Lamido local Government Area of the State.

The Governor’s warning followed the recent outbreak of Hostilities between the Fulani and Gwomu communities in Karim Lamido Local Government Area of the state.

The Taraba State Deputy Governor, Alhaji Aminu Abdullahi Alkali was accompanied by the Taraba State PDP Chairman, Hon Abubakar Bawa, the members representing Karim one and two at the Taraba State House of Assembly, Hon Mike Dio Jen and Hon Anas Shuaibu to deliver the directives of the Governor to the community.

 

The Deputy Governor lamented that the re-occurrence of violence and crisis which was caused by humans would have been avoided blaming the situation on negligence of some individuals.

He stressed that the situation prompted the Governor to delegate him on a mission to broker peace between the communities.

 

He warned that henceforth, if there is any further break down of law and order in any part of the local Government area and Taraba State in general, the traditional leadership in the affected areas will be held accountable.

He explained that the role of traditional leaders are to complement the Government in maintaining law and order in their respective localities hence the need for collective synergy among government, parents and community leaders to monitor the upbringing of children to ensure responsible future leaders.

 

The Taraba State PDP Chairman, Hon Abubakar Bawa expressed dismay over the frequent eruption of violence and crisis at any slightest provocation amongst communities which have retarded the progress and development of the communities following the diversion of the attention of Government from developmental policies as a result of losses of resources meant for human and capital development.

The members representing Karim one and two at the State House of Assembly, Hon Mike Dio Jen and Hon Anas Shuaibu Didango re-echoed their call for tolerance amongst the communities in the local Government area, saying peace is the only way for meaningful development.

The Chairman of Karim Lamido Local Government Council, Hon Bitrus Danjos, the Chief of Wurkum, Alhaji Yakubu Abubakar Haruna Kirim, the Chief of Bikwin, Nicolas Bala Sarkin Yara and the Representatives of Gomu and Fulani communities in their various submissions, commended the Taraba State Government under the leadership of Governor Agbu Kefas for having the people at heart and promised for better days ahead.
